*AQUARIUS at the Marriott Resort was the first AQUARIUS centre in Hurghada over 10 years ago. Located on the beach it has its own jetty for our fleet of dive boats and modern diver training facilities. The centre is renowned for dive tours and dive training for beginners and experienced.We are only five minutes from the centre of Hurghada and within easy reach of all the downtown hotels.
Hurghada was the first Red Sea resort to develop in the very late 70’s and early 80’s. A firm favourite for many European and Russian divers. Whilst diving is a strong attraction for divers it also has lots to offer non divers with great hotels, sandy beaches, warm water and year round sunshine. The total holiday package for all is rounded off with great bars, worldwide cuisine restaurants and disco’s for the tireless. AQUARIUS Diving Club at the Marriott has been managed for the last 3 years by Mohamed Wahsh, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, with an International staff of over 25 in support. Mohamed was born and bred in Cairo and now has his home in Hurghada doing what Mohamed loves best… diving and ensuring his customers are well taken care of.
Training and guiding is in French, German, Italian, English, Scandinavian, Russian and Arabic. Our staff will help you with the check-in procedure, medical statements, and if needed we can supply you with your equipment needs from our extensive range of branded gear. A painless experience… you came to dive. Diving tours will start with a check dive from one of our specialised dive boats which provide for full day diving.
Training courses begin with your check-in and then it’s down to the fun of learning, exploring and skills.
We provide free transfers to the centre from all the hotels and accommodation in the Hurghada area. If you have pre-booked your diving with us we will agree your pickup time by the evening before at the latest.
We are a PADI Gold Palm Resort, offering numerous PADI courses from Discover Scuba Diving to Master Scuba Diver. For the courses we have 2 designated DVD and video equipped classrooms and a heated pool for the skill training.
At the centre you’ll also find showers and rinsing facilities for your equipment, a beachside refreshments bar for food and drinks and you are free to use the local beach for a relaxing swim or snorkelling or just watching the world go by.
On our boats and at the centre you’ll find our underwater videographers from Focus. A videographer will join and film you and the other guests diving from the boats or film you while you are doing a course at the centre. By the end of the day we will have a video show with clips from both above and under water. Copies are available for sale.
AQUARIUS Diving Club has a strong commitment to diver training, for beginners and experienced divers. All our centres are PADI Gold Palm standard and we continuously review our procedures, protocol and staff training to maintain the highest of standards.
As seasoned divers throughout we appreciate that diving is for fun and enjoyment. Our staff are there to support your needs and make your time with us as easy and trouble free as possible. At the same time we are aware that you need to be able to enjoy your diving secure. We place great emphasis on ensuring health and safety at all times including continuous equipment maintenance, boat conditions and staff education.
Over the years we have enjoyed a good reputation with our guests and have many repeat visitors. Some come to dive with us several times a year; year after year. A reputation of excellence that we are proud of.
Location description: There are some fantastic places in the world for diving… Thailand, Great Barrier Reef, Maldives, Caymans, Mexico…. the list is endless and everyone has their favourites. In the top three of every diver’s list will however be the Red Sea…. warm crystal clear waters, abundance of fish and fauna, huge range of dive sites from easy to stretching and a massive infrastructure of diver provisions from training, guiding, boats, equipment and safety support. Those divers who have found Red Sea diving become frequent visitors, time and time again. Even the dive professionals living and working out here never tire of what the Red Sea has to offer.
Red Sea: The Red Sea is 2,250km long, on average only 300km wide and at its deepest 2,850m. It is separated from the rest of the world’s oceans at its southern most point, Bab el-Mandeb. Here the opening to the Indian Ocean is only 29km wide and a very shallow 134m. Now it’s pretty handy having this open; without it the sea level would fall around 1.5m per year making this year’s beach property a cliff top home within 25 years!! Water temperatures range from 20C in winter to 30C in summer…. pretty impressive. Uniquely, the sea gets warmer the deeper you go. In the Atlantis II Trench at a depth of 2,000m the temperatures range from 30-63C! At this depth the Red Sea is the scene of geothermic activity from the earth’s core and magma which not only heats but pumps incredible amounts of minerals into the waters supporting the incredible diverse marine life.
European divers have long considered the Red Sea to be a prime dive location. The first diving expeditions started back in the 1950`s, very low numbers with little to no local support. Diving gained pace in the 80’s and really took off in the 90’s. Today, throughout the Egyptian Red Sea, diving is a major tourist attraction. Dive centres, training schools and world leading staff have made this area the world’s largest diver training and development area. The support for the diver from local businesses and the Egyptian Government is second to none. Topping the list of support is the requirement for the provision of skilled staff, concentration on diver safety and diver specific medical centres and rescue facilities.
The area has many, many hundreds of recognised dive site; some, especially in the environmentally protected areas, are amongst the finest sites in the world, not just in the Red Sea. Visibility in the warm waters ranges from 30 to 75 metres giving fantastic panoramic views of coral formations and thousands of shoaling fish….. drifting gently into a shawl of over a thousand barracuda is awesome, watching a cruising White Tip Oceanic tunnel through them is mind blowing.
