Company description

Dive-Urge is a P.A.D.I. Gold Palm 5 star Dive Resort (s32174), offering a very special customized dive service for those people who want to leave the crowds behind and like to dive with other divers with compatible skill levels. Dive Urge is also a great place to learn to dive, at your own pace and with small numbers (MAX FOUR) or privately on a one to one basis is also available, if you wish. If you are already a diver then we will take you through an initial dive consultation. We are a family run business English and Egyptian owned. Myself; Lynne Gillis, 38, English, a P.A.D.I. Master Scuba Diver Trainer, with my husband Helal, Nadia our seven year old daughter, and our latest edition, Hebba, nearly two years old, both born and brought up here in Dahab in the Sinai. We have both lived and enjoyed working in the Holiday/Dive Industry in Dahab for a total of 18 years between us and have a good appreciation of the needs of holiday makers as well as having established the long term contacts essential here, to make sure the customer gets exactly what (s)he wants, be that just fantastic, personalised diving experiences, or just a really nice spot under some Palm Trees to enjoy some peace and quiet and snorkeling. Some words about the Dive Urge Team: Claire Newton OWSI who has lived in Dahab for 5 years, but originally from Birmingham. Claire is our main PADI Instructor and is our Dive Operations Manager too. She has been at Dive Urge for nearly three years and is an advocate of our Eco Diving policy and has a wealth of knowledge re the underwater world. She lives in Dahab with Tom and her daughter Marianna who is two and a bit. Theresa Hayes is our New Dive Master, she has also escaped the rat race and is here helping us with lots of aspects of the running of Dive Urge. She is pictured above on the group photo, far left, but will update this with a top photo when we she stops running around.. Ahmed and Mahmoud, are both brothers of Helal, my Husband. Together they look after the running of the Club and can help to make your stay comfy and relaxed and nothing is too much trouble, they also have a good sense of humour, so watch out. They are both divers too so can appreciate your underwater shot when you get back from your dives. There is also a team of helpful lads, all willing to help with anything you need. Khaled and Bakar have important roles as our Chefs` They can come up with anything from a tasty full on fruit pancake in the morning to a sumptuous steak and shrimp special which you won`t forget. They are also there for those quick pasta dishes between meals or a hot chocolate when you come back from a dive, nothing is too much bother. We keep the feel of the place relaxed and family orientated so you can fully kick back and start relaxing from when you get here. We will not pressure you to do dive if you don`t want to (for example if your partner does) and there are plenty of other activities, in Dahab to enjoy and a lot to be said for chilling out on our private beach and reading a good book next to the sea and under the palm trees. Here at Dive Urge, we are all passionate about diving and the natural beauty of this part of the Sinai, and try to protect it with small numbers of divers and picking up any rubbish we come across above or below the water. Everyone can enjoy Dive Urge as our whole facility and mind set has also included the needs of disabled clients, with ramp access to all areas of the dive center and an open plan bathroom inside too. As the diving is shore based this makes it easier to access etc. There are plenty of other activities besides diving; windsurfing, camel riding, horse riding, quad bikes and some amazing scenery to explore. Both of our daughters; Nadia and Hebba were born and raised in Dahab, this gives us extra appreciation of the needs of families. Everyone loves children here, they are welcome everywhere and have lots of space to run and splash around in.

All of the dives are shore based dives and are dived depending on conditions and level of experience. Shore diving is great because you can be very flexible with when and where you go which means more often that not we can avoid other divers and just enjoy fish and corals. It is easier for lots of people to dive from shore too as the entries are easy and not disorientating (like jumping off a boat can be) We have excellent training sites here in Dahab too, so great if you want to learn to dive. Guided divers have their fun too with some of the biggest drop-off wall dives (1000 meters wall) in the world. *Eel Garden: Dive Urge is on the shores of one of the most famous Dive Sites in Dahab, Eel Garden. From Dive Urge Club, you can walk directly into the dive site, where you are rewarded by a field of Red Sea Garden Eels, gently swaying with the current, on a bed of white sand. There are some amazing soft and hard corals and teeming with fish life to match. There are many dive sites in Dahab because nearly the whole coast is formed from Coral. The only limitation being really where it is safe for you, and the coral, to get in and out (All shore based dives) Therefore it would be impossible to list all the dive sites and in some ways a bit of the magic taken away, here we list some to wet your appetite; *The Canyon Dive Site : has an amazing crack in the reef table which is now, after millions of years large enough to dive into. You can then go up into a `fishbowl` which is literally filled with thousands of Glass Fish. The Islands: This is such a lovely shallow dive, max depth 16 meters. Some of the Largest Corals in Dahab, huge Brain Coral and large schools of Emperor or even Barracuda define this site as a magical experience which will leave you unable to talk for a bit Described by `times` as the best dive site in Dahab and only ten minutes drive from Dive Urge.... *Bells to Blue Hole Drift Dive: The most famous site here in Dahab, certainly the most talked about is Bells to Blue Hole. It is a favorite of mine for the ultimate blueness, which is viewed whilst hovering next to a wall that drops to over 1000 meters, it is spectacular to see a Ray or Turtle coming into view from the endless blue. For obvious reasons this is a dive for an Advanced PADI Open Water or beyond, but can be done as part of your Advanced Open Water course or Adventure dive as long as you have completed a Deep Dive with a PADI Instructor. This site is also fantastic to snorkel and and all round good way to spend the day. A second dive, shallower than the first, can then be done, entering now from the Blue Hole across the blue again, but this time to the right to explore some fantastic coral formation and schooling Reef fishes. *Ras Abu Galum The dive sites in this National Park, are very beautiful and definitely off the beaten track. They are accessed after a Camel ride North to Ras Abu Galum. There are several dive sites here to enjoy, depending on your abilities
