Company description
You can find information about dive centres, education, liveaboards. For example, some info about dive centres:
*Ghazala Village, Sharm el Sheikh
The center is managed by Tony since many years. On behalf of our staff we would like to welcome you to Sinai Divers. Tony, since many years the operation manager and his team will do their utmost to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and show you the magnificent dive-sites of the Red Sea. Most of your time will be spend with your dive-master and instructor. There are many other team-members involved to make sure that your dive-holiday will be a complete success.
*Conrad Resort, Sharm el Sheikh
Sinai Divers is a PADI 5 star IDC Golden Palm Center, offering instruction ranging from Beginners up to Diving Instructors. The air-conditioned classrooms are located at the main building of the base. Practical instruction starts at the large sweet water pool, while the actual open water dives are taken at the house reef, directly in front of the base. Instruction can be given in German, English, French, and Arabic. All diving courses, including check-out dives and introductory dives.
Of course, there also dives off boats. Excursions go to the reefs in the Tiran Stait, Ras Mohamed or to the wreck of the “Thistlegorm†in the Gulf of Suez. Guests meet at the main building of the dive base at about 08:00 a.m., and then go by minibus to the harbor (abt. 25 minutes drive). Spacious day boats take them to the various dive sites, which are about 1 1 ½ hours away. As the boat ride to the “Thistlegorm†takes about 3 ½ hours, this tour starts at 05:00 a.m. already.
*Hilton Resort, Dahab
Tom Schwericke, a long-term resident of Dahab is managing the center. Together with his team of divemasters, instructors and qualified staff he makes sure that the well-known Sinai Divers standard and quality is guaranteed.
Since 1 July 2002 the diving center is registered as a PADI 5* IDC and TDI Training Facility and since 1 January 2006 as National Geographic Center. The diving school program ranges from Bubblemaker to Instructor Training and offers regular TEC diving courses from basic Nitrox up to Extended Range Instructor. For training purposes a buoyancy park has been installed in the lagoon. Two air-conditioned classrooms are situated in the main building. Course languages are English, German, French and Dutch. The confined water training starts either in the fresh-water pool or in the lagoon in front of the center. During the last day of the course the reefs of Dahab will be explored. All courses, introductory dives and check out dives are offered daily.
*Dive Center Backpackers - Dahab
The diving center offers pure diving at good, reasonable prices. It’s run with a team spirit, so you might have to lend a hand with packing and stacking dive gear, boxes etc. Our small dive center is completely equipped with Scubapro stab jackets (BCDs), regulators, 121 aluminium tanks and two-piece 5mm neoprene wetsuits. We travel by jeep to all the well-known dive sites in Dahab such as Canyon, Blue Hole, Treepools tc. Mini camel-back safaris to Abu Galoum and snorkelling trips and boat expeditions in the Nabq National Park are additional highlights. Other options like day trips to the Reefs of Tiran, Ras Mohammed and the Thistlegorm wreck can be organised on site. For anyone looking for quality, fun and safe diving at reasonable prices the Backpackers is just the right place for you.
Location description:
*Ras Mohammed
Here an underwater world has developed which is unique in the Red Sea. Due to the topographical position, there a strong currents throughout the whole year which are often hard to predict even for experienced divers. However, it is exactly these currents which provide the reefs in the best possible way with the necessary nutrients. No other dive site in the northern part of the Red Sea offers as much of a variety and density of species as Ras Mohammed.
*Straits of Tiran
The Gulf of Aqaba is a approximately 2000 meter deep cut in the bottom of the ocean. At the southern end of the Gulf, the island of Tiran is located. Here the Gulf narrows and becomes shallower. With the change of tides, huge quantities of water flow through this bottleneck and cause very strong currents. In the center of the Straits of Tiran, a ridge pushes up, running from north to south. On its highest elevation four coral reefs (Gordon, Woodhouse, Thomas and Jackson, which are named after British cartographers) have formed. The currents around these reefs are the cause for the extraordinary diversity of corals and big fish swarms. Among others, you can see barracudas, snappers as well as sharks.
*Naama Bay
One of the most unknown dive sites in Sharm is located right on our doorstep, Naama Bay. This is the only dive spot where you can dive all year round at any time day or night without using a boat or car. Here you will encounter all the sea life you can imagine. All kind of moray eels including the giant moray, schools of juvenile barracudas, sweet lips, rays and many more. It is important to know where to find these treasures. The bay contains large areas of sand and sea grass. Here you will find a kind of marine life you cannot see on the drop offs and coral gardens. Many different kind of nudibranches and wart slugs, ghost pipe fish, shrimpfish, seahorses, crocodile and stone fish.
Night dives arranged on an individual basis in the dive center are a complete new experience with the activity of the nocturnal creatures in the reef. All day dwellers are sleeping in their night spots and can be observed from close range. Without any current and a gently sloping sandy bottom, the bay is perfect for Discover Scuba Dives and Scuba classes. Dive sites such as Ras Mohammed, Jackson Reef, Blue Hole and many more are legends among divers. Names like Thistlegorm, Dunraven or Carnatic raise the attention of every wreck-loving diver. Since the opening of the Suez Canal in 1860´s, many ships have passed through the gulf heading Europe to the Orient. Many have also perished, snared by the shallow reef that loom beneath the surface. Most of the ships rest in safediving depth. So exploring them is not imposing any danger. During one week special wreck-safaris, the wrecks of Shab Ali and Shab Abu Nahas (Chrisola K.,Giannis D., Carnatic - to name some of them) are on the itinerary.
