Location description: Sharm El Sheikh Dive Sites. Accessibility to some of the listed dive sites is dependent on the weather.
*Sheraton House Reef
A superb reef running the length of the beach. 10m near the reef gently sloping away to 40m+. Stunning corals and a wide variety of fish.
*Wreck of the Thistlegorm
Built in 1940, sank in 1941 and `discovered` in 1956 by Jacques Cousteau. This British transport ship was sank by German bombers as it lay at anchor near Shaab Ali en route from Capetown to the Allied troops in North Africa.
130m long and lying on the sea bed at a maximum depth of 30m, this wreck has a lot worth seeing including Motorcycles, Bren gun carriers and a train.
Special weekly trips are organised to this very popular but nonetheless incredible dive site.
*Tiran Jackson Reef
2 possible dives depending on the weather conditions. One out and back, the other a drift. Gorgonias, Red Anemone, White tip Reef Sharks, Grey Reef Sharks and Hammerhead Sharks.
*Tiran Woodhouse Reef
A narrow reef nearly 1km long. The best dive is a drift on the north-east edge where you can spot Jackfish, Turtles, Sharks and some good corals.
*Tiran Thomas Reef
An excellent dive site offering great corals, reef fish and the pelagics. Drift dives only.
*Tiran Gordon Reef
You can make several dives here on the large plateau and see the debris from the wreck of `Lovilla`. Possible to see Sharks and Eagle Rays.
*Ras Mohamed Jackfish Alley
Takes it`s name from the fact that it is regularly visited by Jackfish. For the very experienced there are lots of caves here. A drift dive from east to west with lots to see including the sand alley where you could see Sharks and Mantas.
*Ras Mohamed Shark Observatory
A wall that drops to nearly 300m makes for an excellent drift dive. Some caves and always a chance to see large pelagics in the blue.
*Ras Mohamed Shark Reef & Yolande Reef
A very popular site for obvious reasons. A fantastic array of marine life makes this one of the best dives in the Red Sea. Try the drift dive from north to southwest taking in Anemone City, Shark Reef and finally Yolande Reef. This site has everything from circling Barracuda to Sharks to Napoleons to Groupers.
*Ras Umm Sid
Famous for the Gorgonia forest which is at 25m. Look out for Barracuda, Jackfish and Tuna.
*Temple
No problems with weather conditions here. Depths between 6-25m this site is popular. Gets it`s name from the 3 pinnacles which resemble an ancient temple. Soft corals and Napoleons.
*Ras Katy
Another relatively easy dive site with no weather problems. Coral pinnacles on the plateau are rich in marine life. Good site to see Crocodile fish and Stingrays.
