MATEMO and ROLAS
DIVE 1 : Off the island of Rolas(pigeon in portugese).Anchor in the bay, eat oysters for lunch and snorkel in the bluest water you`ll ever see.
DIVE 2 : A drop-off to keep all deep divers happy. Black coral and sharks.
DIVE 3 : A southern continuation of dive 2 but deeper. Watch for the dolphins at low tide. Currents can be bad deep down, on the south end between Matemo and Ibo.
Dive 4 : An interesting dive for strong swimmers. As the tide starts going out dive the channel and watch the fish returning to sea. Keep on the edges behind some shelter and watch the sharks.
DIVE 5 : Easy dive for crays.
DIVE 6 : Casual dive at shallow depths with all the coral and fish you could wish for.

Location description:
*QUISIVA is an island with semi-permanent inhabitants. They all fish locally and know the area well. Ask for CAMPO , a trained open-water diver. The WITCHDOCTOR on the island is reputed to be very powerful and (for a small fee) will give you a protection against sharks!!! Water must be transported from Arimba on the mainland, only 5min by motor-boat.
*MACOLOE & PANGANI
Pangani is one of the most `` talked-about `` beaches in East Africa. Not easily found but once there well worth the effort. Miles of white sands, coconut trees, and blue waters. No facilities are available but rumours of various camping projects abound. Food is scarce but lots of fish and water is available. Outside Macoloe is some of the best fishing on the coast.
*Ibo
Ibo is a facinating island with a history of slave-trading and Portugese Colonialism.
Today the island is in a poor state as the images will show, but is being rapidly rebuilt. WWF are spending a lot on renovating the old historical houses to accomodate their delegates in ``comfort``,as the Quirimbas has recently become a protected area.
*Quipaco
Quipaco is an interesting island as it has a small inland lake that is accessible at high springs. Great place to moor for the night. Oysters come by the ``kilo-bunch`` on every rock.
*Quirimba
Quirimba is one of the largest islands and has permanent inhabitants. The Guessner Family also have it as their home and are well worth visiting if you have the opportunity. Frontier projects also use the island and are also worth visiting.
All the diving around these islands is on the outer edge of the reef. A canal of about 25- 35m deep stretches along the bottom of the ridge. The entrance to the outside of Sencar and Quilaluia has a channel which empties one of the mainland rivers. Excellent diving but serious tides. Be careful. Quilaluia is a great site for shallow dives and has a small ridge down to +/- 15m.
...and many more!
