As a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center (5 Star IDC) is a dive center that not only meets all 5 Star Dive Center standards, but also offers PADI Instructor-level training. A PADI 5 Star IDC offers dive consumers programs to fulfill their educational goals from entry-level diver training up through instructor-level certifications.
Having a PADI Course Director on staff indicates the 5 Star IDC's commitment to offering instructor development programs and continuing education opportunities to dive professionals. By offering PADI Instructor-level training, a PADI 5 Star IDC takes on the responsibility of developing PADI Instructors. Our PADI IDC's are conducted by award winning Course Director!
North Borneo Dive and Sea Sports the first and only PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center in Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia! Our professional IDC team are able to conduct IDCs in English, German, French, Japanese, Malay and Chinese.
With well over thousand divers certified from beginner, specialty diver and professionals, we are the leader in diving education and at the seaside town of Semporna and it's nearby islands.
We have 3 custom built speed boat offering dive/snorkeling excursion daily to world's most spectacular dive sites; Sipadan, Mabul Kapalai, Mataking to name a few.
Location description: From snorkeling to diving and from sandy beaches bed of corals, North Borneo takes you to explore various spectacular dive sites around the islands of Semporna, Borneo Malaysia.
The Semporna marine park offers perfect diving conditions all year round. Located off the east coast of Sabah, and consisting of dozens of reefs and islands separating the Celebes Sea from the Sulu Sea to the north, diving activities have been well developed over the last decade. While resort activities are limited to a small number of islands we conduct daily dive trips from our dive centre in Semporna to the islands of Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking, Boheyan, Mantabuan, etc.
The diverse dive spots offer drop offs, slopes and plateaus in depths ranging from 2 meters to 60 meters with sometimes swift currents and visibility between 10m to 40m. Sightings of sharks and turtles can be guaranteed at some dive sites, while other common sights of marine life include those of manta rays, eagle rays, schooling barracudas and jacks, and rare critters like mandarinfish, frogfish, and ghostpipefish. The large wreck of a cargo vessel can also be accessed from our Semporna base on request. Most dive sites can be reached within one hour by our custom built dive boats.
We have an array of dive sites planned for you departing daily from Semporna at 8.30am and return after 3 dives at approximately 5.00pm.
