"My love of the underwater world started 25 years ago in the seas of Marmara at the age of 10. I started this sport by spearing fish but in time decided to photograph them instead. I aimed to describe what I saw, so I left the fish to themselves and started to share the photographs I took of the beauties of the underwater world with my friends.
I always aimed to preserve and promote the waters of Turkey and to find her new admirers even though I dived in many different seas of the world. I wanted to create, by combining my feelings and thoughts with my works and experience, a lasting work of art to share with my friends of the underwater.
Nowadays, as we sail out to sea with many foreign divers, we know that thousands of them have previously dived in our waters. However we had no information to give them about the regions and the seas they dived in. Not even a book that they could take back as a souvenir. There were no references and information apart from some translations of educational books and with the lack of interest shown by our country towards underwater tourism led me to concentrate on this project. I placed before me all the books that I had gathered during my dives in Turkey as well as my 10 year old archive of slides and saw that I was entering into a project that would take me close to 3 years to finish."
