Company description The Dive Shop Ltd was founded in 1965 by Abdulhai ``Paki`` Degia one of the island`s first qualified SCUBA divers. He contributed information on Barbadian diving to such specialized magazines as ``Underwater USA``. His consciousness about the safety dimensions on SCUBA diving led him to be a founding member of the Eastern Caribbean Safe Diving Association. That body raised funds for the decompression chamber now at the Barbados Defense Force which is used to treat ailments, such as the bends, for Barbadians and neighbouring islands.
*We offer a large selection of dive sites on both the West and South coasts, over 20 dive sites.
*We are a PADI, NAUI & ACUC Training Facility.
*All of our dive packages include transportation to and from the dive shop (some restrictions may apply).
Available courses:
*Discover SCUBA/ Resort Class
After you are outfitted with the basic SCUBA equipment, your instructor will give you a basic orientation on the use of the equipment and proper diving procedures. Now you will be ready for your introduction to SCUBA, which will be conducted in a pool/confined water environment so you can get the feel for the equipment and make sure you are comfortable doing your skills.
DURATION: Two (2) to three (3) hours
*OPEN WATER COURSE
A short knowledge review confirms that you have picked up the information you need from that section. There is a final exam of fifty (50) multiple choice questions to test your knowledge of what you have learned, (75% required to pass the exam). The fun begins in the confined water dives, during which you apply diving principles, learn and practice procedures and skills. There are five(5) confined water training modules that correspond with the five (5) knowledge development sections. You will make four (4) SCUBA dives before you complete your training as an entry level diver by applying and further developing your skills in a dive environment under your instructor`s supervision and guidance. Once you have completed this you are now an Open Water Diver.
DURATION: Two (2) days minimum/ Performance Based (Four (4) Days)
*ADVANCED OPEN WATER COURSE
After choosing your three (3) elective dives you instructor will give you an orientation of how the dives will be conducted.
Upon completing the advanced training dives you will be given a PIC or Personal Identification Card form to be filled out (2 passport pictures required) which will be sent to the certifying agency for a permanent certification card, which will be sent to you and a ninety (90) day temporary card will be given.
DURATION: Two (2) days minimum
