Over forty years ago Aqua Safari pioneered sport diving in Cozumel, Mexico. We have since acquired a small fleet of modern and comfortable dive boats. Our divemasters want to make your diving fun and safe, and they will help you to enjoy a fantastic scuba diving vacation. We are small, friendly, safe and professional!
We have 2 dive shop locations, a broad menu of dive trips and services, and offer the best in SCUBA training all the way from Discover Scuba through Instructor level.
We offer accommodation options from economical to condominiums and resort.
Aqua Safari is a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center, a testimony to the quality of our facilities and services.
Aqua Safari takes divers to Cozumel`s most beautiful reefs several times a day. Divers are picked up at the Aqua Safari downtown pier and at most major hotels south of town along the way to the dive sites.
2 TANK DIVE TRIP LARGE BOAT $60.00 US
Boats leave at 8:30 a.m. Includes 2 tanks, weights and belt, divemasters, small snack, sodas and purified water. The trip consists of two dives on different reefs - the first dive is normally a 60 - 80 ft. dive, and the repetitive dive between 40 and 50 ft. There is a one hour minimum surface interval aboard the boat between dives. The exact location of the dive sites is determined by the divemaster aboard, in accordance with the weather conditions, currents and divers preference.
ADDITIONAL 3rd TANK $9.00 US
Add to the above trip an extra trip to a shallow reef for the third tank (usually Paradise Reef, a shallow reef with plenty of fish life, maximum depth would be 40 ft.). Boat departs at 2:30 p.m. and returns about 4:30 p.m. *Pay an additional $9.00 over the 2 tank dive and join this trip!*
ONE TANK AFTERNOON DIVE $35.00 US
2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. One tank shallow dive (Paradise Reef), includes tank and weights, divemaster and sodas. Usually done from one of the large boats.
TWO TANK DIVE TRIP FAST BOAT $65.00 US
8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Includes 2 tanks, weights and belt, divemaster and sodas. Maximum 8 divers.
NIGHT DIVE $40.00 US
One tank shallow dive includes tank & weights and divemaster. We have lights available at $ 5.00 per rental. We schedule night dives on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night.
SNORKEL TRIP $25.00 US
Aqua Safari operates two full-service shops for maximum convenience.
The spacious Aqua Safari Dive Center at the new Cozumel Palace is now open.
Both convenient locations offer trip sign-up, scuba instruction, equipment rental, equipment storage, boat boarding, and retail dive shops, well stocked with the latest in diving and snorkeling gear and accessories.
As a PADI 5-Star IDC facility, Aqua Safari offers a full range of instruction including introductory, advanced, specialty, referrals and refresher courses. Aqua Safari conducts 4 to 5 IDCs per year. Location description: Our boats are most seaworthy and well maintained; as such we are rarely prevented from diving by the weather. We take no shortcuts on our client`s safety and enjoyment, and as a small personal service shop, we are ready to service the needs of our individual clients.
Aqua Safari has acquired an impressive fleet of modern dive boats. They are spacious and well thought out. Divers appreciate large swim platforms with underwater ladders for easy entrance and exit from the water. Clean, dry, and comfortable cabins are available for preparing cameras and there is a clean head aboard. Ocean I, a 35 foot vessel, was the first custom built dive boat on the island. Ocean II and Ocean III are 38 foot Delta dive boats. The Ocean boats are fiberglass V-hulls custom-built in the U.S.A. for the safety and comfort of SCUBA divers. Ocean IV, a 35 foot vessel is much like Ocean I. The Ocean I and IV carry a maximum of 12 divers. Ocean II and III carry up to 16 divers unless per group request. For your safety and to keep the environment clean, all our boats are diesel powered.
Aqua Safari`s “fast boat” Belinda is wide, stable, safe and fast. She can carry a maximum of eight passengers per trip. Belinda is a 28-foot, Cat diesel-powered Delta.
Aqua Safari provides 100% oxygen first aid capability on each and every boat. The boats never go out without a marine radio. Our boat captains are experienced in navigating Cozumel`s reef system (they don`t need GPS to find the reefs!). Our divemasters are carefully chosen, well trained, bilingual and helpful. This responsible and knowledgeable team of professionals can deal with any diving and weather condition.
Many divers like to take one day of their trip to off-gas and tour our beautiful island. If you`ve never been around the island you can rent a car or jeep and circle the island in half a day. There are many beaches and restaurants along the way, as well as parks that will require an entry fee. Chankanaab is the biggest of those parks. There is also mini-golf, jungle bike tours, horseback riding, sailing and catamaran trips, and shopping. The Museum of the Island of Cozumel is a wonderful place to spend some time if you want to learn more about the island`s history.
Visit the Mayan Ruins
San Gervasio - Several miles outside of town near the middle of the island are the San Gervasio Mayan Ruins. You may choose to tour the ruins yourself, or hire a guide for a personalized tour. A self-guided tour brochure is available at the entrance. It is well written, informative and makes a great souvenir. As you walk through the ruins you will find at each point of interest, a stone plate that gives you a description of what it is you are looking at, and a brief history of its significance.
Tumba de Caracol Mayan Ruin is located inside Punta Sur Park at the southern tip of the island. There is an entrance fee. There are many other ruins on the island of Cozumel, however they are difficult to get to.
