Company description Amigos del Mar has been operating in Cabo San Lucas for over 18 years, making us the most experienced dive operators in Los Cabos. We take pride in the personalized service and unsurpassed safety we provide our clients.
We are a PADI , SSI, NAUI, NASDS Dive Resort Facility offering daily guided natural history, scuba and snorkel tours, a variety of Certification Courses and introductory scuba courses, natural history sunset cruises and - in season - natural history whale watching tours. Our choice of dive sites will please every diver, from the novice to the most experienced.
Cabo San Lucas is located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, the longest peninsula in the world, about 30 miles south of the Tropic of Cancer. Because we are located at the exact point where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, we enjoy marine flora and fauna indigenous to both bodies of water, making our dives a truly unique experience. We have an average rainfall of 6`` per year. January to June average air temperature is around 80 degrees F° and average water temp is around 68 degrees F°. June to January average air temp is around 90 degrees F° and water temp 80 degrees F°. The water warms up nicely toward the end of summer and usually stays warm through December and into January.
Amigos del Mar now has a fleet of boats to better service our clients` individual needs. Our 22-foot panga has an open runabout type hull and a canopy for shade. This skiff is great for up to 4 persons plus divemaster.
We now have two completely customized trimarans, the 33 foot Amigo I and the 36 foot Gran Amigo. Both have lots of space and shade and both have bathroom facilities also. The Amigo I is powered by an outboard sail drive and is a very stable dive platform. Our Gran Amigo is powered by an inboard diesel and, although both trimarans can accomodate more than 8 persons, we seldom do in order to ensure maximum comfort and service for our clients. The newest addition to our fleet is the 25-foot runabout, Amigo 11. This fast boat with plenty of shade was custom built with a freshwater shower, camera dip and marine head for client comfort. It is equipped with twin engines and electronics to zip our clients out to remote adventure sites and to locate the best spots when you get there.

Location description: DIVE SITES
SOCORRO ISLANDS
Located some 200 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas, not enough can be said about these volcanic islands. Uninhabited, except for a navel base, they have been called by many the ``Mexican Galapagos``. Home to whitetip, blacktip, galapagos, tiger and schooling hammerhead sharks this is an area for experienced divers only. Giant Mantas with 15` - 20` wingspans are everywhere! Besides 400 lb. tuna and schools of endless gamefish there are many exotic species of reef fish endemic to these islands and nowhere else.
SEA OF CORTEZ
With over 850 species of reef fish, the Sea of Cortez is one of the most prolific bodies of water on earth. Known for encounters with large pelagics such as whalesharks and giant mantas, it is also one of the areas where hammerheads school. In addition to the largest living coral reef in the Sea, dive with enormous schools of reef fish found nowhere else in the world, four-foot stingrays, sea lions, sea turtles, 100 lb. grouper and many other unique experiences.
ANEGADA
On the edge of the Submarine Canyon that forms San Lucas Bay. Beautiful wall dive to small sandfall at around 90`. Large congregations of big and small tropicals. Slopes covered with gorgonians and gracefull sea fans. Not unusual to spot rays and big fish swimming out of nearby deeper water. Also an excellent night dive, The Bay of San Lucas is a National Marine Sanctuary so we take only pictures and leave only bubbles.
THE POINT
At Land`s End where the Pacific Ocean joins the Sea of Cortez. Sea lions, turtles, huge sea basssometimes. Marauding schools of gamefish brought in by large schools of baitfish such as sardines and greenjacks. Pelagics such as whale sharks and mantas also spotted in this area. Also morays, octopus, tropicals, etc., Average depth of 60`.
LA LARGA
60` to 120` Canyons. Rock outcrops giving way to steep vertical granite walls and rocky ledges at 100`. Thick with gorgonians and sea fans. Octopus, abundant tropicals, schooIs of barracuda and other pelagics. Largest of the two famous sandfalls begins here at 100`.
THE BLOWHOLE
40` to lOO`.The backside of a huge rock forms a wall covered in gorgonians. Small nurse sharks and guitarfish sometimes inhabit the area, along with a few large grouper and the occasional bat ray or eagle ray. The site gets its name from a small blowhole on shore.
CABO PULMO
Not enough can be said about Cabo Pulmo! The only living coral reef on the western side of North America. It is the most unique marine phenomena in the entire Sea of Cortez. Rich in marine life and an experience not to be missed. A National Marine Sanctuary. A 2 hour drive from Cabo San Lucas. Very remote.
