Company description Welcome to the Waterhoppers Diving School, the premier PADI 5 Star Diving Center in Rhodes. Established in1978 we offer courses from our one day Discover Scuba course right through to Instructor. All training is given by our highly qualified, experienced and friendly team of multi-lingual Instructors. We welcome divers from all certification agencies, but you are required to bring your qualification card and log book.
In many years of operation the Waterhoppers Diving School has established itself as the leading dive school in Rhodes. We are continually striving to maintain the highest standards at a reasonable price, which enables us to offer our customers that little bit extra to make their holiday special.
Our dive boats are based in Mandraki Harbour, Rhodes Town, opposite the taxi rank; in walking distance of hotels in Rhodes Town itself, and easily accessible by taxi or bus for clients staying out of town.
We run diving trips every day of the week except Sunday during the summer season, which is from 1st May to the end of October. Clients should register onboard at 8.45am. The boat departs at around 9.30am for a full day excursion at our dive site - the stunningly beautiful Kalithea Bay. On board we provide full facilities for the entire trip, with fresh snacks and refreshments available at a reasonable price. The dive boat returns at around 5pm.

As the pioneers of this type of excursion in Greece we have an unrivalled wealth of experience in diving and in teaching diving, allowing us to provide you with the safest and most enjoyable dive possible. Almost anyone can enjoy diving, you will be surprised by just how easy it is. After a brief theory lesson and orientation, in your own language, you will soon be gliding through our amazing underwater world.
The Waterhoppers are pleased to introduce their new snorkelling programme, designed to appeal to all ages. Snorkelling is easy and a whole lot of fun. On the boat trip to Kalithea we will give you a brief theory lesson and orientation, in your own language, you will also be given a bag containing mask, purge snorkel and fins, for your use during the day.
Location description: The beautiful, clear, warm waters of Kalithea Bay, with it`s stunning scenery, both above and below the water, makes this the ideal spot to learn or improve your snorkelling skills, and to enjoy and appreciate the wonders of the underwater world.
During our various dives we take you to features we call the Mushroom, Blue Hole and Crystal Fish Alley. Each is quite unique. The Mushroon, for example, is a rather large rock with many entrances and exits - you can see all the way across it. When you go under the Mushroom, when you look up you`ll see many sponges growing on the underside. Later, when you come out from under the Mushroom, if you look back you might be able to see the air bubbles coming up through the rock!!
The Blue Hole is an interesting little cave. When you look in from the outside, it is very dark. But if you go barely a meter inside, you`ve got daylight over your head! It`s an extremely easy entrance and exit, and you can surface and eat cookies if you want to while talking to your diving buddies!
Crystal Fish Alley is called that because the water in this part of the bay is exceptionally clear. If you catch the light just right, you can see schools of tiny almost transparent fish swimming, and close behind them are the schools of very young baracuda out to get their lunch!
And while you are swimming across the sandy bottom areas of the bay, do watch out for octopus. They breed during the months of May and September, and then the larger ones go back out to sea. But the baby ones remain in the bay. The older octopus know that if they are spotted by a diver, he will try and get them to come out of their hiding place. So they just crawl deeper into their holes if they see you coming. But the baby octopus have not yet learnt this trick. If you`re lucky, you`ll get to see one swimming!
