The dive centre caters for groups of up to 20, but Martin and Sandra can also organise dive buddies for individuals or provide dive leaders if required.
The Center offers week-long diving courses for beginners to the internationally recognised PADI Open Water standard. All equipment is provided and classes are kept small and personal with a maximum of 6 people per course. Instruction up to PADI Divemaster standard is also available.
*P.A.D.I DISCOVER SCUBA PROGRAMME
The P.A.D.I. Discover Scuba programme allows those who have never tried diving to safely experience it. A P.A.D.I. Instructor conducts a brief orientation, followed by your first underwater experience in shallow confined water, then under supervision of your instructor you will go on an actual Dive in shallow water. This once off experience takes approximately 1 to 2 days.
*PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER PROGRAMES
These courses are geared towards experienced divers. The programs core dives are underwater navigation and deep diving. Additional elective dives might include boat diving, drift diving, multilevel diving, night diving, underwater photography, wreck diving and other speciality dives. PADI Advanced Open Water Certification required five dives and may take as little time as one weekend. Advanced Plus Certification includes nine dives and provides a head start toward PADI leadership training.
*PADI SPECIALITY COURSES
These courses focus on the underwater activities that interest you most. Speciality certifications expose you to exciting new skills and environments. Boat Diver, Cavern Diver, Deep Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Equipment Specialist, Night Diver, Search and Recovery, Underwater Photographer and Wreck Diver are just a few. Most of these courses can be completed in a weekend, with emphasis on hands-on learning.
*PADI RESCUE DIVER
The PADI Rescue diver course makes the serious subject of accident prevention and management enjoyable and rewarding. It makes you focus beyond yourself and your buddy to make diving safer for others as you learn to recognise and prevent potential diving accidents and how to handle them if they do occur.
*MEDIC FIRST AID
For both divers and nondivers, this revolutionary course teaches CPR and First Aid, important prerequisites for Rescue Diver Certification.
* PADI MASTER SCUBA DIVER
When you complete the PADI Advances Open Water, Rescue Diver and any five PADI speciality courses, you are eligible to earn a PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. This prestigous rating is the highest non-professional credential in recreational diving.
*PADI DIVE MASTER
Dive master training is your first step on the Professional path. Divemaster training develops your diving leadership abilities by expanding your knowledge to a professional level, and by training you to supervise diving activities and assist with divers in training.
*PADI Assistant Instructor
Valuable preparation for PADI instructor training, the Assistant Instructor course provides hands-on teaching experience, all under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor.
Location description: The waters around Valentia are clear and unpolluted, with often spectacular visibility and the benefit if being diveable in most wind and weather conditions. There is an amazing wealth of scenic, wreck and night diving.
*The Skelligs
The most spectacular diving on these giant rocks is between 15m and 35m, but divers can choose their depth. There are sheer drop-offs, ledges crammed with marine life and an abundance of fish. Visibility is often 30m plus....a photographers paradise. The rocks are a home to a colony of inquisitive seals, who often play with divers. There are also the remains of an ancient wreck on little Skelligs.
*Bray Head
Ledges at the western end of Valentia Island running from 10m to 40m with a kaleidoscope of colours, masses of fish and diving sea-birds, this site is best dived during slack water.
*Puffin Island
To the South of Valentia Island, a rocky site full of life including pollack, wrasse, conger, mackerel, ling, crayfish, lobster and crabs.
*Oilean an Iasc
To the north of Valentia harbour, this inlet is home to a wide variety of fish life and crustaceans including mussels, crabs and lobsters. The best diving is between 10m and 30m, with lots of nooks and crannies - a torch is a must on this dive.
*Dolous Head
A Shallow dive (around 20m) with plenty of colourful flora and fauna and caves to explore.
*The Birds
Spectacular scenery above and below the water. Sheer cliffs are home to thousands of nesting kittiwakes, guillemots and puffins. This is a perfect dive site for novices as the maximum depth is 15m and the whole site is full of ledges teaming with marine life.....conger eels, anemones, dogfish, lobsters pollack and wrasse.
*The Wrecks
Most of the wrecks in this area are in deep water, but the `Manchester Merchant` in Dingle Bay is reasonably intact and with a maximum depth of 10-12m offers plenty of bottom time.
*Valentia Harbour
A fantastic site for night dives and for novices, with clear, sheltered water, a wreck at 12m and lots to see including scallops, pouting, ling, lobsters, shrimps and conger eels.
