Company description Starfish Diving School opened in the summer of 2002 with a fresh approach to holiday diving to make diving in Malta easier and more fun.
Whether your interests are Wreck Diving, Night Diving, Boat Diving, or Technical Diving, or you are simply a beginner, we can cater to all your wishes. St Julians is also the ideal place to spend your non-diving time, being close to the newest beach in Malta and a wide variety of restaurants, and varied nightlife.
Diving is available every day of the week throughout the year, at times to suit your schedule. Whether you just wish to make a single dive or multiple dives, from shore or by boat, Starfish can provide you with exactly the service you require. Trips are also organised at least once a week to the neighbouring islands of Gozo and Comino so you can experience the delights that these site have to offer.
All our equipment is state of the art and regularly maintained, including cylinders that can be charged to 300bar which give you plenty of air without the extra weight. The school has a brand new Silent Bauer compressor and we are able to offer Nitrox and Trimix to those suitably qualified. We also have balanced regulators compatible with the 300 bar cylinders to rent along with full 5mm wetsuits, Aqualung BCD’s and everything else to make your diving as easy and safe as possible.
All the diving instructors based at Starfish are vastly experienced, and qualified to teach the full range of diving courses, from absolute beginners up to training for would-be instructors.
If your interests lie in the greater depths, Starfish can also provide twin sets and technical wings with 6ltr stage bottles, the school being a fully recognised TDI centre.
Location description: The most popular our dive sites:
*HMS Maori
This is a perfect shallow wreck dive. The wreck is a British Tribal Class Destroyer sunk in 1942 ithe Grand Harbor in Valletta. The average depth is 14 meters with easy access from shore.
*Cirkewwa
This is possibly the best dive site in Malta as it allows many different types of dive all with crystal clear visibility. At 30 metres there is a purpose sunk wreck called The Rozi, a small tugboat, which attracts a wide variety of marine life. There are also many caves, swim through and arches and depths can be set to suit all levels of diver.
*Ghar Lapsi
This is a beautiful dive suitable for all levels of ability. The dive takes you through a spectacular cave system and then onto the reef with an average depth of approximately 12 metres. Everyone enjoys the chance to see the sunlight coming through the cracks in the cave system which is quite unique.
*Wied iz Zurrieq
Located in a pretty fishing village, this site is home to a 115 meter long oil tanker wreck. This is a spectacular dive highly recommended to all divers who come to Malta.
*Blenheim Bomber
This is a dive only accessible by boat. Sitting in 38 metres of water, this Second World War aircraft is a very exciting dive for the more experienced diver.
*The Two Tugs
This dive is located in the south east corner of the island and allows you to dive two wrecks in the same dive. With a depth of 20 metres this is a gentle dive, with opportunities for photography as the wrecks are home to a wide range of nudibranch with the chance of seeing rays and gurnards.
*Dwejra, Gozo
These shore dive are perhaps the most stunning dives of all in the Maltese Islands. Firstly, there is the Blue Hole with a unique entry, access to deep caves and sheer drop offs with the chance to see large pelagic, everyone who does this dive wants to jump straight back in. Then there is the Inland Sea, with its large tunnel and underwater topography just as stunning as above the water, our day trips to Gozo are not to be missed
*Comino
Our two dive trips to Comino are also very popular, usually we dive at Lantern point, with its splendid chimney starting at 6 metres and going down to 16 meters, followed by the chance to go deeper and explore the many swimthroughs. Next, we take you to Santa Maria Caves where you can experience the abundant fish life, and intricate cave system, this dive is suitable for all, with average depths of 14 metres.
..and that's not all.
