| Try Scuba diving in the Costa del Sol near Nerja. The best dive sites in southern Spain are on the doorstep of our Nerja dive center (centre) and school. The sea is generally clear, non-tidal, and temperate, with interesting diving down to 50m in a rich variety of marine life. We are proud to be the only BSAC premier dive school on both the Costa del Sol and the Costa Tropical. All BSAC and PADI dive courses are available in an informal, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere. We meet all modern scuba diving needs and beginners are particularly welcome. Essentially we are a club-based dive center (centre) under BSAC which is the largest dive club in the world. We are a dedicated team and work in a friendly atmosphere of mutual support. Our fully accredited (BSAC and PADI) dive centre (center) staff are teachers rather than instructors. In fact, owner, Dave Gledhill, never appoints training staff on diving credentials alone. Ideally located in the picturesque coastal town of Nerja, we enjoy the best weather in Europe. Nerja offers a wide range of accommodation and amenities as well as being only 15 to 25 minutes drive from the great dive sites and 40 minutes from Malaga on the new motorway. Dave Gledhill, a diving veteran of 35 years, and ex Red Arrows senior aircraft engineer, acquired the business in 1995 and has developed it into a family dive center and training facility to meet all modern scuba diving needs. A qualified and highly experienced technician, Dave personally repairs and services diving equipment, to high precision, at very reasonable rates. Supporting outdoor activities and services are also provided. If you haven`t experienced it yet, would you like to try scuba diving in the Costa del Sol? Our trial scuba dives are very popular with visitors and provide a perfect introduction to the fascinating underwater world. Are you a qualified diver? Would you like to experience scuba diving in the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical? Our guided scuba dives are always popular. We can take you on a professionally guided tour scuba diving in Spain`s Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical. These are possibly Spain`s best dive sites. Our Scuba dive center in Nerja is ideally located for diving in the Costa del Sol and Tropical while also enjoying a great family vacation. You don`t need to spend 3 to 4 hours travelling to the top Spanish dive sites and we are less than an hour from Malaga airport. Beach diving in Spain`s Eastern Costa del Sol, near Nerja, requires minimal surface swimming and boat trips to sites beyond snorkeling range are generally short. Most beaches have steep-sloping shores. Water temperatures in the Nerja section of the Costa del Sol range from 13 to 16C in winter, to 22 to 25C in summer so a 5mm wet suit is generally sufficient in winter months. Nerja enjoys Europe`s best weather and offers a very wide variety of bars, restaurants, accommodation, and amenities to suit all tastes and pockets. We also have an outdoor activities section offering mountain bike, scooter and car hire, portable GPS hire and sales, organised walking, cycling, horse riding and jeep safaris, to augment your diving vacation / holiday. There is an (almost finished) public swimming pool, a water park (20km), a sports centre and a public running track. Almost all holiday needs can be met in Nerja... including facilities for disabled visitors. Don`t forget to visit our Useful Links page and, if you own a scuba diving related website, that could be of interest to other visitors, we could be interested in exchanging links with you. We hope you enjoy your visit and will soon come to see us in person.

MARINA BAY Gobi Point At east side of bay is a good dive for all levels. Rocky base at 6-18m with a wall on left. Swim round it to the marina breakwater and return in shallower water to your starting point. Vis: usually good. Lots of marine life. Gullies A formation of large rocks on west side of the beach have formed a series of swim-through gullies. They are good for all levels of expertise. Depths from 6-15m. . Vis: good. Lots of interesting marine life. Punta de la Mona For more experienced divers. Depths of 15-45m. This site can be accessed from the beach (long snorkel) but is better by boat. A submerged rocky spine extends out from the Punta. Sea life is always good with large shoals of sardines and anchovies that can attract Tuna and other large predatory fish. Vis: usually good but look out for the current. Fraggle Rock Reachable from beach but easier by boat. A single large rocky outcrop in the center of the bay. The wrecks of a couple of small boats and a car add a bit of extra interest. Fish life here is basically the same as the Punta but sometimes moon fish (sun fish) come here to get cleaned by wrasse. LA HERRADURA BAY Joaquim East side of the beach. Good for all levels. Depths of 3-9m. Fallen down rocks and sandy bottom. A lot of small fish and octopus are found here. Tres Picos or Los Gigantes Usually a boat dive but can be snorkeled. Three large submerged rocks stretch from the shore. Depths of 5m on their shore side reach 20m on their seaward. Marine life abounds with the occasional large sun (moon) fish coming in for cleaning by wrasse. La Calita - Herradura Wall Also called First Bay. The bay has a lot of fallen rocks at depths of 3-12m on a sandy bottom. A wall reaches out to depths of 40m. Lots of predatory fish come into the bay after the smaller ones. Marine life is interesting. Las Piedras Altas Wall A wall dive round from Herradura Wall to Punta de la Mona. Can be several dives or one interesting drift dive. Lots of marine life as at Herradura Wall. Cerro Gordo West side of the bay has several good sites. From wall dives to cavern and cave diving. Depths of 15-20m. Conger and Moray eels congregate around a large pillar at the entrance to the main cavern. MISCELLANEOUS Cantarijan Nudist Beach Just west of La Herradura. Nice beach dive. Round to the west of the beach lie two caverns. The first one has a chimney which lets light into the cavern, so creating some interesting light effects.
