Company description The El Rei del Mar Diving Centre is situated in the town of Estartit (Costa Brava). The reserve is known as one of the most important in the West of the Mediterranean and is a meeting place for lovers of the under water world.
There are two large well equipped boats, each with a capacity for 30 divers, at your disposal. Both are equipped with a hydraulic lift for boarding the vessel after diving and with all the indispensable safety elements as required by regulationary laws. We are in contact with our base at all times by radio and mobile telephone and there is a hyperbaric chamber in Palamos just 25 kms, a half an hour drive away.
Our diving centre offers you a complete service for washing and drying your wet suits and the rest of your diving gear, together with lockers for storage (all free of charge).
As well as this you do not have to worry about the transport of your equipment because we take care of this tiring task with our own vehicles.

We give diving courses at all levels, but if you do not want to take a full course and would prefer to try out what it feels like first, we offer you a TEST DIVE in a swimming pool and in the sea, where you will be able to experience the under water adventure, accompanied and advised at all times by our team of professional diving instructors, helping you to enjoy your stay in our country and make it the best ever diving experience.
Our rules:
At present there is a daily limit for the concession of licences permitted by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Catalonian Government for diving centres and individual divers with their own boats who wish to dive in the Medes islands natural reserve.
In order to avoid large numbers of divers congregating in the same area, the archipelago has been divided into eight diving zones.
Our diving is open all year round.
Location description: Whilst the coastal areas do not have such a concentration of sea life they do offer some fascinating dives. You can find wrecks, tunnels, caves, walls full of plant life, coral and rich fauna..

These zones in the reserve, frequented by divers, are characterised by a great quantity of bustling marine life, mainly large groupers which can be found a shallow depths. These enormous fish approach divers fearlessly and with an air of curiosity, wreathed in clouds of Sargasso, with eagle rays skimming along the sea-floor amongst schools of barracudas. Divers will be in awe of the underwater caves and sea walls teeming with anemones.
