with more than 20 years of diving experience.
His expertise is supported by a fully experienced staff of instructors
and dive guides who have an excellent knowledge of Lanzarote`s dive locations.
We pride ourselves on offering a friendly service and welcome divers
with all levels of experience - from the complete beginner to the experienced diver.
Whether you want to experience the fantastic underwater world
for the first time - train and receive PADI certification -
or, if qualified, explore the rich seas around Puerto del Carmen
then Manta Dive Centre assures you of a warm welcome.
Our staff will ensure that whatever your current level of diving
you will get the most out of your diving in Lanzarote.
While in Lanzarote take the opportunity to discover the underwater world for yourself.
You don`t have to be a strong swimmer or athlete to enjoy Scuba Diving.
Discover Scuba
Your PADI instructor will give you a brief theory lesson
to explain some basic safety rules and explain the underwater activities you will undertake.
You will then put on your scuba equipment and enter the water.
When you are happy you will go under the water and swim
round the shallow part of the bay. Your photograph will be taken.
Follow up Dive
This will take you a short way out of the bay to about 10m.
You will be shown buoyancy control which will enable you to dive
and keep off the sand.
You are in control and can enjoy the sights underwater
whilst under the supervision of an instructor.
This is a real fun dive.
PADI Open Water Course
This is the first qualification.
On completion of the course you receive an internationally
recognised qualification for life.
Just the first step to further enjoyment of the underwater world
Some courses details:
Scuba Diver Course 2 days
This is a PADI Certification course and on completion you will be issued with a Certification Card
which allows you to dive to a Maximum of 12 mtrs.
It involves theory work, reading the manuals, watching videos, multiple choice question tests,
and knowledge reviews at the end of each section.
In between the academic sessions, you are taken in the water
with one of our Instructors where you are taught and practice Scuba Diving skills.
These are demonstrated to you, then at the end of the course,
you demonstrate those skills back to the Instructor.
Open Water Diver 3 days
This is the most popular course taken by new divers.
The course is split into sections, both academic and water.
Again it involves reading the manual, watching videos, completing knowledge reviews
and multiple choice questionnaires. It is interspersed with water time,
where you are with an Instructor, learning and developing water skills.
The first four sections are tuition, and the final session is when you demonstrate the skills
you have learned back to the Instructor. On completion of this course,
you are qualified and receive Certification as an Open Water Diver
which allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18mtrs.
Advanced Open Water Course 2 days
This course is the next step for those who already hold the Open Water Diver certification.
It comprises of 5 dive disciplines, two of which are compulsory core dives :
Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation.
You then have three others to do, which you can choose from a list provided.
We can offer advice if you are unsure which ones to do.
On completion of this course, you will have a certification which allows you to dive to a depth of 30 mtrs.
There is the opportunity of increasing your dive depth limit,
and this is done as a separate Deep Dive Speciality, qualifying you to dive to a depth of 40mtrs.

Dive Sites:
The Cathedral – Shore Dive
accessed from the beach (Playa de la Barrilla). It is a short surface swim out of the bay and then a free descent to approx. 14m. We follow along the reef to the left and over a drop-off which leads down to the `Cathedral` at approximately 30 metres. There are alcoves of finger coral and small shrimp and glass fish at the far end and there are many soft corals on the cave walls and roof. Grouper fish are very often found there. This is also a regular hang out for some beautiful trumpet fish. Torches are recommended to explore the cave to full advantage.
The House Reef – Shore Dive
is accessed via the beach or the jetty with a short surface swim then a free descent to approximately 12 metres at which point the dive runs along the end of the protected bay with overhangs on either side. The bottom contours can be followed to a depth of approximately 25 metres. There are a variety of fish including grouper, barracuda, angelshark, and rays to be seen. Large shrimps, globular anemone, arrowhead crabs and octopus can also be found there which is why it also makes an interesting dive that can be done several times, all of which will vary.
The Harbour Wall – Shore Dive
a very interesting dive both by day & by night. It begins from the bay or from the jetty. It is a shallow entry leading leisurely to 24mtrs at its furthest point. For orientation and navigation purposes the rocks and the harbour wall are kept to the right on the way out and on the return journey the same features are kept to the left and this leads straight back the jetty or bay. At night the bay takes on a different character, fields of anemones burst from the normally featureless sandy bottom. Cuttlefish, octopus and sea horses can be found along the small harbour wall, spider crab and small shrimps can also be spotted by those with keen eyesight. During the day there is an abundance of many different fish & marine life species – a great dive, ideal for those wanting to take their time and photograph the little creatures!
Old Harbour Wrecks - Boat Dive
This site has been designated a marine conservation site and features a well established wreck site supporting a vast quantity of marine life - sardines, pinfish, turkish wrasse, emperor fish, arrow crabs, large groupers, barracuda and sometimes visited by large rays, tuna and angelsharks. The short boat trip from the harbour takes divers to a buoy directly above a trawler wreck at 18 metres. We descend down the line to the forward mast and from there to the bottom. This wreck still has a two metre brass propeller intact. If you follow the edge of the reef down you`ll find other wrecks which range from a wooden crushed wreck at 24 metres to a skeletal fishing boat at around 37 metres. There are approximately eight wrecks together in the area and the site can be dived several times to explore its entirety.
