Company description Welcome to Medaqua, your link to the underwater world and the many activities in L`Estartit and the Medas Islands natural reserve.
Founded in 1995, Medaqua offers you an ideal geographic location, staff with experience and motivation, sporting equipment of the highest quality and above all, a complete service which covers all aspects of your excursions and/or vacations.

Medaqua is, for tradition and vocation, a school of diving, with an experience of more than 35 years of water. The ideal place to achieve your title, but, especially, the best place for learning to dive!!
We are a PADI Gold Palm resort, imparting courses of all levels.Courses during all the year round. The popular OPEN WATER DIVER, the course of initiation, it starts all the weeks (with the possibility to make it in 2 weekends), equal that the advanced courses, specialities, etc…
In Medaqua we certify hundreds of students every year, and ourcourses follows PADI and our own standards, indicative of seriousness and strictness, once results of our school have been guaranteed by the A grades.
We offer the following courses:
*DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
This is and initiation to the self contained diving equipment (with bottle) for people that have never practised this sport. It is an impressive activity and 100% safe, because in Medaqua we conduct this activity in the sea with highly trained and qualified diving instructors which individually accompany the participants.
Once we arrive in L`Estartit, we do a presentation of the activity, with the help of video and explain the basic of diving and then equip the participants with neoprene suits, masks and fins. After we leave in the boat to ``Falaguer``, a sheltered and shallow bay, ideal for the first dive.
When the boat is anchored, we help equip the participants with the heavy equipment (bottle, weights, jacket etc) and gegin the dives. The aforementioned dive, lasts 20 to 25 minutes to a maximum of 12 metres depth and individually guided with a qualified instructor.
Discover SCUBA Diving is easy, very safe and fun, and allows us to have a first taste of this sport and a totally safe way. No previous experience or qualifications are needed.
*SCUBA DIVER
This an intiation course, very basic, into the world of diving. Completion of which requires that you make dives only under the supervision of PADI professionals and to a maximum depth of 12 meters. Normally we conduct this course when we have bad weather and cannot complete the Open Water Diver Course. Afterwards at any point we can take the next step and finish the Open Water Course.
* OPEN WATER DIVER
The course ``Open Water Diver``, opens the door for us into the world of diving, the course offers us all the training required to practice sports diving with the maximum level of safety.
The title allows us to dive down to 18 meters depth maximum, that is, always accompanied by a partner and following the safety rules of diving. He course includes theoretical classes and practical sessions: planning dives and using time and depth tables, exercises in the swimming pool, dives in the sea etc.
*ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER
It is the course that he certifies you definitively as diver, growing up your knowledge about diving allowing not only not to attain more important depths, but also more satisfaction in your dives of exploration.
The advanced course includes two dives of compulsory subject matter, that they are the deep and of orientation dives, and three dives of free subject matter.
* RESCUE DIVER
It is a very interesting course. With this formation, the student attains a high degree of knowledge for detecting, preventing and solving, possible accidents, and an important experience in rescues at sea.

Location description: DIVING IN THE MEDAS ISLANDS
The small archipelagos of the Medas Islands was protected by law in 1990, with the objective to ``conserve and protect the flora and fauna of the marine environment and prevent the destruction and deterioation of the natural habitat``.






After 12 years of protection, the results are a seabed full of life, gorgonias, corals, algae and above all fish. The quantity and type of which leave astounded the divers which come from all parts to dive in these waters.
For this purpose, the regulations to protect the archipelagos decided to implement amongst other measures, a limitation on the number of dives made in the reserve and their distribution to minimise the pressure from the visitors.
Everybody that wants to dive in the Medas Islands, must first request a specific permission and pay a tax.
The diving centres are not excepted, they are also required to have permissions to organise excursions to the reserve and have a limited number of places. Before every excursion they have to request permission for their clients and pay the corresponding tax.

*MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST
It is a short but very useful course, in a day alone combining theory and practice, we will learn carry out a correct maintenance of the diving equipment and solve the most usual problems that our equipment can show. The course can be made all the year round, but we usually do it, in low season.
*PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY
The buoyancy is to the diving which the equilibrium is in the ski, the basis that makes possible the progression in the practice of our sport. We will be specially conscious when we want to observe fish, to dedicate ourselves to the UW-photography or to carry out multilevel dives. A good technique in buoyancy makes possible us also to make diving with less leads, therefore with less expense of energy, which makes consume less air and be able to be more time in the water.
*SUBAQUATIC NAVIGATION
It is a course especially indicated once has been obtained the OWD, or in any moment if you haven`t had the possibility to make it before, since a good subaquatic orientation is in its technique fundamental for any diver that wants to acquire the level of autonomy and to progress. Knowing where you are and how to came back to the starting point or how to go to a determinate place or meeting that so interesting point, are some of the advantages that subaquatic navigation course provides you.
The course includes a theoretical part with exercises, knowledge and planning, but the practical block has a lot of importance, with techniques and practical applications of the most effective methods of subaquatic orientation.
