Company description
S`Algar Diving was founded in the 1980s. Since then we have continually striven to improve the services we offer out customers. We are PADI 5*star, IDC Centre . We are also one of the few Centres where you can obtain the PADI Cavern Diver Speciality - indeed twice a year, Gavin Newman runs his Cavern & Cave Diving programme here. On top of that, we are registered Royal Yachting Association Powerboat school.
Diving with us you will be able to experience the pleasures of diving in crystal clear turquoise waters were the visibility can reach more than 50 meters. You will be able to visit the now renowned underwater caverns and caves.
We firmly believe your holiday experiences with us should be fun and hassle free. My Management Team and Instructors (pictured) will do everything they can to ensure your diving is remembered and talked about.
To help you during your stay, we have an equipment storage area and drying room so there`s no need to have wet neoprene in your hotel room or hire car (unless you like it there of course) ! Additionally, we can arrange accommodation for you (out of peak season) and we can usually find excellent deals for car hire as well. For the family and more adventurous, we offer boat charter to enable you to explore Menorca`s beautiful coastline and other watersports.
At S`Algar Diving we offer a complete range of services for the novice and also the experienced diver. Our facilities:
*Staff
In addition to the management & instructors we also have several Divemasters, Trainee Divemasters & Boat Handlers.

*2 compressors 30cu.ft/min and reserve
*50 complete sets of rental equipment

If some of your holiday group are not divers, Menorca offers dozens of fantastic sandy bays and inlets to laze away the hours. There are many fine restaurants, cafes, bars and discos to be discovered on the island.
We deliver the full range of PADI courses from Open Water to instructor level.
We have all facilities, including two fully equipped, purpose built classrooms, a confined water pool, open water bay and a bar (phew!) all within a 50m radius of the Dive Centre. Facilities are available 24 hours (unfortunately the bar isn`t!).
Also available:
*RYA Courses
The European law states that to skipper a sport or powerboat you must have have an ICC (Internacional Certificate of Competence) . We can instruct you on boat handling in your own boat or in one of our RYA registered craft, providing you with the appropriate qualifications. In addition, we can offer you a CEVNI Test (Code Européen des Voies de la Navigation Intérieure) which can be translated as the Rules or Collision regulations for European inland waterways. The CEVNI Test is required for navigating European inland waterways and is a basic test covering lights, shapes, sounds and signals used on these.
*Cave Courses
These courses have been designed to provide an introduction to the cave diving environment for recreational divers and skills learnt may be related to the exploration of both natural, overhead environments such as caverns, as well as artificial ones such as wrecks. As well as dry theory sessions and land drills, participants will undertake a minimum of 8 dives and achieve a minimum of 400 minutes of in-water time over the week. These will range from an initial familiarisation dive to exploring some of the most spectacular underwater caverns in Europe.
We look forward to having you dive with us.

SOME OF OUR MORE POPULAR DIVE SITES:
1. ES CARAGOL REEF - A white water reef 1km from shore that has been the bane of ships for centuries. Worth several dives for its varied grottos, chimneys and arches and the prolific fish life - as well as the chance of finding remains of the many wrecks recorded here - 21M.
2. WEST END REEF - A reef leading out from the western tip of the Isla Del Aire where by excavating in the sand, the remains of ancient shipwrecks can often be found (we recently located a small cannon here). The reef itself has several small grottos and is a good spot for groupers, octopus and occasionally spectacular barracudas. 18M.
3. GIANTS PLAYGROUND - A great dive for the underwater photographer where enormous boulders lay as if thrown by giants from the lighthouse on Windy Island, providing homes for morays, congers and lobsters. Tucked in the west corner is an interesting swim through cavern entered through a horizontal crack in 9M and left by way of a grand arch at 20M, there are also two smaller caves on the eastern wall - 25M.
4. THE SPIKE - A natural rock pinnacle rising from approximately 27M to within half a meter of the surface, honeycombed by small caves and grottos. A natural habitat for a variety of brightly coloured fish that will happily feed from your hand and Scorpion fish who won`t! - 28M.
5. THE CORAL GALLERIES - A breathtaking natural cavern on three levels filled with natural light, whose walls and roof are totally covered in delicate coral, bright encrusting anemones and sponges - home to grouper, moray and conger eels. A chimney to the west brings you out close to an attractive, underwater, horseshoe-shaped bay. Or, you can leave by the main exit to the east following the wall to a second sandy-floored cave in front of which is the site of the wreck ``La Laurette``, a French man-o-war lost here in 1883. You can still clearly see cannon and musket balls and grapeshot in the sand and rocks - 22M. (There is a deeper area -for those with fish-like air consumption- to 30M with more wreckage)
6. STANLEY`S DROP-OFF - Within sight of the centre, extending seaward from below the ruined 18th century defense tower guarding the haven of Alcaufar, is this fascinating reef. The dramatic wall begins in 8M and drops sheer to a maximum of 28M, perforated by a twisting labyrinth of tunnels including a chimney and small caverns - 28M.
7. THE PLATEAU - A very relaxing dive close to S`Algar, ideal for photography and looking at the marine life and fauna. Its name comes from a big flat rock anchor point at 6m. It has overhangs to 24 meters with large boulders and swim-throughs. An excellent site for Moray Eel spotting - 25M.
8. CATHEDRAL CAVERN - Perhaps the biggest cavern of them all. The entry arch is so large that it is naturally lit with diffused turquoise light for the whole of its considerable length. The boulder strewn floor leads to a sandy rise at the back of the cavern and to one side a single rock - 26M.
