Company description Viva Riva Sports SL, is a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) resort based in the fishing village of Villaricos (near Mojacar).
Are two priorities are safety and having fun; we have two instructors who are qualified in PADI and diving fist aid who speak English, Spanish and French. All instructors have their own liability insurance as well as being insuredunder the Viva Riva Group.
The dive centre has a well equipped shop and hire centre with a seperate class room with TV and DVD for training, we have two dressing rooms with showers and toilets aswell as a wet area for cleaning and drying equipment.
Once the equipment has been put together it is loaded into our trailor for it to be transported 100m down to the Villaricos Harbour.
At the harbour we have our two 7.5 metre RIBS which will transport to the chosen dive site. All sites are reachable within twenty minutes. The boats are fully equipped with fir extinguishers, first aid boxes, life jackets, GPS, sonda, VHF radio,and drinking water.
We offer:
DIVE TRIPS : Daily at 10.00, 12.30 and 4.30 weather permitting, night dives also arranged.
COURSES : We offer the following Padi Courses, Discover Scuba, Open Water, Advanced open Water, Rescue Diver, Dive Master, Medic First Aid and Snorkel Trips for groups. We also have career development programs.
DIVE SHOP : We have a dive shop where we offer diving equipment at excellent prices.
EQUIPMENT : We have first class equipment for hire and three compressors to charge your bottles, we also have two 7.5m Valiant Ribs with 200HP and 225HP engines to get you to any of our dive sites quickly; and when you arrive back you can change and have a hot shower in our first class changing facilities.
DIVE SITES :The Almeria coast is famous for it`s diving and the variety of undersea wildlife, Villaricos is known for it`s crystal clear warm waters and it`s fabulous diving. Dive Courses:
Try Dive - Minimum age 15
This is a pool dive only, under the supervision of a diving instructor. The duration is about one hour in the pool. This course is ideal for all of the family and consists of professional instruction about the basics of diving, with enough time to experience the underwater world in the comfort and security of a swimming pool.
Discover Scuba Diving - Minimum age 15
A course of about one day in this duration you will watch a short video, one dive in a swimming pool followed by a dive in the sea at a maximum depth of 6 metres with an instructor.
On completing this course you will recieve your discover scuba diving card.
If you wish to futher your diving career this course can be credited towards part one of the open water course.
Scuba Diver - Minimum age 15
This is a three day course which proceeds pool dives which introduces diving skills and 2 sea dives. You will have to do some book studying (which is easy). Watch a video and pass a short multiple choice exam. on completion you will recieve a license which enables you to dive with an instructor up to a maximum of 12 metres.
A medical certificate for diving is required as well as two passport size pictures.
Location description: Our Dive Sites
Cala Verde Max depth 10 meters, Suitable for beginners upwards.
This site is made up from the pontoon that once loaded ships with ore from the local mountain range. During a great storm, many years ago it was destroyed and is now an artificial reef. Normaly we see congers, octopus, small groupers and occasionaly litlle rays.
Las Anclas Depth 7 meters to 20 meters, Suitable for beginners upwards.
This is a large rock formation just outside the harbour of Villaricos. It has a gentle slope towards the beach and a drop off area to 18 meters o­n the sea side.
The side has numerous octopus, morays and large clams. This dive site name originates from the large ancors that are situated on the site.
Journey to dive site 1 minute by boat.
La Loza 1, 2 & 3 Depth 10 meters to 30 meters, Suitable for beginners upwards.
The large rock formation is split into 3 different dive sites and is reached by boat in about 20 minutes.
The top of the site is 10 meters with a gentle slope towrads the beach, down to 22 meters on the seaward side, the rock drops off to a maximum of 30 meters.
There are plenty of fish on this site ranging from barracuda, tuna, octopus, peacock wrosse, moray eels, conger eel and if are really lucky the common stingray.
The site offers a small swim through and a chimney which will take divers from 28 meters to 12, This section of the dive site is limited to more advanced divers .

El Calon 1 Depth 10 meters to 25 meters, Suitable for beginners upwards.
This site is reached by boat in about 25 minutes. It is a large rock with the top laying at 10 meters.
The beach side slopes down to 20 meters and the seaward side to a max of 25 meters.
Fish includes morey eels, octopus, striped wrosse, rainbow groupers, peacock wrosse.
El Calon 2 Depth 5 meters 25 meters, Suitable for beginners.
Reached by boat in 30 minutes.

The Cathedral - Advanced Divers
Is about 3 km from the fishing village of Villaricos.
This isolated rock rises from a maximum depth of 30 metres to a plato at 19 metres. on the seaward side of this rock is an opening 3 x 4 metres wide into a cave. The sides and roof are covered with different kinds of coral and sponges. The floor is fine coral so beware, if you kick this up you will impare the visibility.
A scorpian fish and morey eels have made this their home. (but we cannot guarantee that you will see one)
