Company description Dave and Sue welcome friends old and new to sunny Spain!
La Manga Club is famous for it`s golf courses and tennis, less well known is that some of Spain`s best dive sites can be found on it`s doorstep. Here you can discover some of it`s best kept secrets- beneath the waves of the Mediterranean.
We pride ourselves on our high standards of service and equipment. We keep instructor-to-student ratios low, never more than 1:2, to ensure your course or experience is as safe and enjoyable as possible.
We are Dave and Sue Whitehead, an English PADI instructor couple based on the coast close to
La Manga Club.We have a wealth of diving experience, especially in the local area.
Dave is a PADI Master Instructor with over 16 years experience in teaching diving.
We offer highly professional diving tuition to individuals, families and small groups. Our emphasis is on a safe, relaxed learning environment. The quiet coves around Cabo de Palos are an ideal location to learn to dive or to rediscover your diving skills if you haven`t been underwater for a while.
We can schedule your diving around other sporting activities, or, if you wish, conduct your course or experience in the privacy of your own pool.Don`t worry about transport- this is all part of our service.
Experience the delights of diving in the Marine Reserve off Cabo de Palos, guided at all times by either Dave or Sue. These pinnacles abound with marine life, with regular sightings of Eagle Rays,Barracuda and large Grouper. They are perfect sites for specialty photography or naturalist dives.
We also venture further afield to Puerto de Mazzaron. From here you can explore the ``Dragamina``, one of several shipwrecks in the bay, or discover the caverns and spectacular underwater scenery of Cabo Tinoso
If you are new to diving,
here is a brief description of the PADI programmes and courses we offer:-
Bubble-maker
This is an opportunity for children as young as 8 to have fun using SCUBA in the safe environment of a swimming pool.
Discover Scuba
This experience consists of a short presentation followed by an enjoyable session using full SCUBA in the pool.
Discover Scuba Diving
Traditional version- This programme is designed to permit individuals to experience SCUBA diving under direct instructor supervision. A short academic presentation is followed by a familiarisation session in the pool, where the basic skills necessary are developed before the open-water SCUBA dive.
This usually takes place in one of the sheltered coves around Cabo de Palos- weather conditions permitting.
The experience can be credited towards the Open Water Course and is open to those aged 10 and above.
Scuba Diver
This is a sub-course within the Open Water Diver Course. It opens diving to those with time constraints and those interested in diving in groups guided by a PADI professional. The course comprises 3 academic modules, 3 pool sessions and 2 sea dives. It can be completed in 2-3 days.It is possible to continue training to Open Water Diver at any time after completing the course and is open to those aged 10 and above.
Open Water Diver
This is a full entry-level certification course, which can be comfortably completed in 4 days. It consists of 5 academic modules, 5 pool sessions and 4 sea dives.The academic portion of the course can be started before your holiday, upon request.
If you are already a certified diver, you may be interested in the Adventures in Diving Program
This provides divers with a structured means to explore special diving interests and gain dive experience.
Divers choose dives that interest them and sample activities under the guidance of a PADI instructor.
Each Adventure Dive may count as the first dive of the related PADI Speciality Diver, Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water course.
Adventure Dives we offer include:- Boat Dive, Wreck Dive, Underwater Photography, Underwater Naturalist, Deep Dive, Underwater Navigation plus many more.
Location description: There are many dive sites:
Barracuda around Bajo de Piles- one of the pinnacles in the Islas Hormigas Marine Reserve.
The reserve is a five mile stretch of sunken pinnacles which vary in depth from 5 metre to 50 metres+.
Marine life is abundant at all the dive sites, providing a food source for many large Palegics.
Eagle rays are regularly seen- this one spotted by Alex Kelly and Lauren Sproats on their first boat dive!
Large Grouper are usually seen on the pinnacles, this one on Bajo de Dentro.
Visibility is usually excellent, especially in the Marine Reserve.
Sunken treasure being raised from the sea bed by Mike and Tim Leeding during the Search and Recovery dive of their Advanced Open Water course.
