Calipso Diving is proud to announce that they will be commencing PADI IDC`S (Instructor Development Courses) in April 2004. As a PADI 5* Gold Palm Resort, Calipso has for many years trained divers within the PADI system, from Open Water Diver right up to Assistant Instructor. This year, 2004, we are going that extra mile and running IDC`s.

Calipso Diving is Always striving to provide our customers with the best in training agencies. This year, 2004, Calipso Diving have done it again by adding Scuba Schools International (SSI) to our course range. We are offering training from Beginner to Dive Control Specialist and beyond! Courses can be tailored to your needs.
To further provide our customers with as much choice as possible Calipso Diving is working as an Associate Member of ProDiveTM Europe - A Winning Combination!
This means YOU can train with ProDiveTM Europe in the UK and finish your training with us in Lanzarote. By working together with the PADI Referral system, Calipso Diving in association with ProDiveTM Europe are able to offer you whole range of PADI courses by commencing your course in the UK and culminating in the award of your certificate during your holiday. We aim to give you more time to do what you signed up for - Diving!

Location description: Our dive sites are located here in Costa Teguise for beginners courses; for experienced divers excursions take place to the North of Costa Teguise in Mala where there are volcanic lava flows and islands, to the South of Arrecife in Puerto del Carmen where there is a 200 metre reef with various points of interest, and still a little further to the Old Town of Puerto del Carmen from where we are able to take you to dive on the conservation area of sunken wrecks which start at 18 metres with the deepest being about 42 metres. Water temperatures are from 18o-26oC and a wetsuit or semi-dry is sufficient all year round.
All skill levels can be catered for from the most inexperienced novice to the very experienced diver with dive depths of 30-35 metres in the mornings and 10-25 metres in the afternoons. Most of the dives are from the shore but we do try to run at least 4 dives a week from a 7 metre inflatable (depending on demand). There is something for everyone from caves, reefs, wrecks, drop-offs and night dives. There are some rare pieces of hard pink coral with a lot of soft coral growing on the rocks which make night dives particularly interesting with all the colours. The marine life is very varied and in abundance with small fish such as Damsel, Wrasse, Arabian Pinfish and Cuttlefish in as little as 2 metres of water to large life such as Barracudas, Groupers, Morays, Jacks, Butterfly Rays, Angel shark, large shoals of Bream and Sardines, etc. It is a photographer`s paradise.
Dive groups of up to 16 divers can be catered for and a personal dive itinerary can be organised for the expedition to Lanzarote.

Our favorite dive sites:
*LAVA CAVES
Unique in underwater volcanic lava flows from 15-60 metres in depth. There is a volcanic island with a cave just off shore where shrimps, goat fish, morays and scorpion fish can be found. Angel sharks frequent this place during the Winter months. A protected bay but the dive site is exposed to the strong winds of the Atlantic Ocean making the site diveable only in very good weather conditions.
*LAS SALINAS
To the North of the island where the underwater scenery is of rocky lava. The waters here are crystal clear and a little more exposed to the winds so depending on the direction of wind, sometimes this site is not diveable. Rays, morays and the many small fish that like to live among the rocks can be found here.
*PUNTA JABILLO
A favourite choice for the complete beginner to experience scuba diving in this protective bay. Many varieties of marine life and the occasional Angel shark.
*THE RABAT WRECK
This wreck is a massive transport ship that unfortunately lost its way to the Port close by. This dive is undertaken by boat and is for the experienced diver with the top of the wreck starting approx. 32 meters.
