All courses offered by the Cambridge Dive and Watersports Centre are run by standards laid down by PADI, `The Professional Association of Diving Instructors`, - the largest professional dive organisation in the world. PADI dive certifications are recognised at dive locations world-wide.
You are required to fill out a medical form prior to attending a course, you can save time by printing it out and bringing it with you to the course. If you answer yes to any of the questions you should seek advice from your GP before attending the course. A guide for GPs is also in this file - you should take it with you to your GP.
Awarded a PADI five star rating in February 1997 the Cambridge Dive and Watersports Centre has continued to excel in it`s training of students and was presented with a PADI education award in 1998. In July 2001 the centre gained PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre rating.
With this continued commitment to high level diver instruction you can be sure that training you receive from the Cambridge Dive and Watersports Centre will be amongst the best available.
The Cambridge Dive Centre Dive Club was formed in February 1997 and is open to all divers, irrespective of their training body. The club currently has around 80 members and meets on the first Wednesday of every month in the Unicorn Pub in Trumpington, at around 7:30pm.
Benefits of the club include discounts in the shop on equipment sales and rental, reduced cost and priority booking on weekend and midweek dive trips, free food at both the club meetings and the annual bar-b-cue.
The club has on offer a number of trips each year to destinations both around Britain and abroad. Previous trip locations include, Portland, Scapa Flow, The Red Sea, Ireland, the Dorothea and Vivian lakes in Wales and Cornwall. To the left we see some of the Dive Club during various trips over the last year.
There are also a number of other non-diving events organised throughout the year and recently several of the club members entered the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of charity, raising over a thousand pounds for Breast Cancer Research..
Much of the Dive Centres rental equipment is sold to members of the Dive Club who receive first offer once the equipment is a year old. This equipment can be reduced by as much as 50% so provides an ideal opportunity for new members to get their own kit at reduced expense. For example this year Apex TX40 regs are being sold complete with octopus and gauge for £210. Buddy Pioneer BCDs are £190 and Aqua lung regs complete with octo and gauge are £195. There are also Body Glove 6.5 titanium 2 piece suits for £90.
If you are interested in joining the club feel free to come along on a club evening and see what it is like before you join or visit the shop for more details.
With our new larger shop and online store the Cambridge Dive and Watersports Centre now stock an extensive range of diving equipment to suit the needs of every diver. The staff in the shop are all divers themselves so you can be assured that the advice you receive will be based on experience.
The Cambridge Dive and Watersports Centre can offer a complete equipment service a repair facility, with qualified regulator service staff, cylinder testing and spare parts for most diving equipment.
Compressed air can also be supplied at pressures up to 300 BAR. Clean air is available and Nitrox is also now available.
