Company description Eccleston Delph Scuba Diving Centre: four and a half acres of water well stocked with Trout, Koi, Roach, Rudd, Perch etc.
Underwater wrecks and features. Walk in beach, slipways and stride entry with training platforms at various depths.
Five acre BSAC and PADI diver training centre close to Chorley and Preston in the heart of Lancashire aka Eccy Delph.
Eccleston Delph has been known as the Eccy Delph, or Hurst House Delph for the last century, and was mined by 12 local Quarrymen producing stone for Blackpool Promenade and for thin slates to cover the local barns and roofs.
The Family of ``Hurst`` who originally owned and worked the Quarry, were well known in the area as Mr Hurst was Chairman of the Parish Council of Heskin for 20 years.
Some time later it also became known as Marsden`s Quarry, although that reference is a little uncertain.
Our training platforms: These are now 6 metre by 3 metre steel walkway types, to eliminate any kick up by trainees.
Our classroom: The class room has been completed and is ready for training use by all dive club instructors.
The Delph is currently full of water. We still intend to drain the water from the 10 metre area to build a small village but work on this has not started as yet.
Location description: Lancashire: (lets` use the old boundaries because some places mentioned here have been mysteriously reclassified as Merseyside or Greater Manchester) has an abundance of things to do and places to see. Here are just a few sugestions...
We realise that occasionally not all your family and friends are divers. Thay are, of course, extremely welcome at The Delph and can hang around watching and enjoying the quiet tranquility of the countryside. It may be, however that they wish to explore elsewhere, or just go shopping.
Why not take a short break and stay over for a night or two at one of the many reasonable hotels / guest houses in the area, fitting in a bit of tourism as well as diving. The local villages have lots of character with nooks and crannies to explore but within half an hour or so you can be in Liverpool, Manchester or Blackpool.
