Company description We have the capacity to provide PADI training of the highest quality, from entry level Open Water courses to Instructor levels. Dive Monkeys also has an associated Club that runs regular trips for divers of all levels, diving both in the UK and abroad.
The centre also carries a large range of diving equipment for sale at competitive prices, with special reductions and deals for members of the club.
Dive Monkeys philosophy begins with training however, we believe that happy divers are safe, capable, confident divers. All our training aims not only to meet the required standards set by PADI, but to exceed them at every opportunity. Our highly qualified, experienced instructors and dive team will be sure to make your courses safe, fun and educational, regardless of the level at which you begin.
Regular dive trips will enable you to build on your training, visit new dive sites and develop your confidence. If you have not trained with us, or are not a PADI diver, don’t worry. You are also able to join the club and enjoy all the benefits it offers. Our well stocked store and school are able to provide for all your diving needs.
We have a huge range of equipment available for hire or purchase, and also the ability to provide servicing and after sales care for your equipment.
Dive Monkeys caters for divers of all ages – including the youngsters! From the age of 8 upwards, we are able to offer diving experiences to suit budding mermen and mermaids. We are able to offer full diving courses to children from the age of 12, subject to the instructors discretion.
These can be combined with adult courses if required, allowing the whole family to learn to dive together!
*Bubble Maker - If your child is 8 years old or over and able to swim, we can give them the chance to complete a bubble maker course in our swimming pool. This course, designed especially for children, will allow them to safely experience the thrill of scuba diving for the first time. Under direct guidance from our experienced instructors, they’ll learn to use the equipment and breathe underwater. At the end of the session, they’ll get a special Dive Monkeys certificate to commemorate their achievement.
*Junior Courses - PADI courses can be specially structured to cater for the needs of adolescents who would like to learn to dive. We are able to provide courses for children from the age of 12 -14. These courses follow the same guidelines as adult training, but are intended to provide stricter rules for the diver. The qualifications are automatically upgraded once the child turns 15, with no need to retake the course. We are also able to combine these courses with our adult training program, allowing us to train the whole family together, with a dedicated instructor if required!
The
Location description: Dive Monkey’s is proud to dive a range of different sites all around the UK. We regularly run trips and holidays abroad as well. Although the club and School dive a wide range of sites, we have a few firm favourites that are visited often. The details of these sites are listed below, noting depths, conditions and qualification levels required to visit these areas.
*The Dredger
The Dredger lies just outside the Portland Breakwater and is frequently used for Open Water training and novice dives. With a maximum depth of seven metres, it is an easy boat dive. Although well broken, this little wreck is full of life, and always a pleasure to visit. During the Summer months, look out for Cuckoo and Balan Wrasse, along with all sorts of other fish. Max Depth: 9m Pre-requisite: Open Water Diver
*Portland The Countess of Erne
The Countess is an intact wreck, lying inside the Breakwater at Portland. She was originally a paddle steamer that was converted to a coal ship. During a storm prior to World War 2 she was sunk after hitting the breakwater harbour wall. She now makes a good alternative to the Dredger and is used for Open Water dives, and novice dives. The deck of the wreck is at 8m, and the bottom reaches a maximum of 13m. She is an easy boat dive, and a great first wreck site. Max Depth: deck: 8m, bottom 13m. Pre-requisite: Open Water Diver
*Vobster Quay
Vobster Quay is our local inland site. It is actually a large body of fresh water that has been especially designed for scuba divers with wrecks and other attractions for divers to explore. Its depths very from 5m to as much as 33m. It is also home to a large population of Brown Trout! We use the shallow areas for our early Open water dives. The bottom is covered by a number of platforms, making it an ideal place to practise skills, and use the lines to practise assents and descents. Max depths: 5m-33m Pre-requisite: Open Water Diver
*National Diving and Activity Centre (NDAC)
Another local inland dive site we use for training. The NDAC is ideal for more technical and deeper dives. Again It is another large body of fresh water that has been especially designed for scuba divers with wrecks and other attractions for divers to explore. Its depths very from 5m to as much as 80m in places which requires special training and kit. We use the shallow areas for Open water and advanced diver training and the deeper areas for our specialty and Technical diver training. Max depths: 5m-80m Pre-requisite: Open Water Diver
