Rather like bubbles, diving centres appear, float to the surface and then disappear without trace. But like a reliable shotline, EDC has been leading customers into the world of diving for over 20 years. Trading on a reputation for thorough product knowledge and solid practical advice, the Centre has always strived to cater for the long term needs of the diving community locally, nationally and internationally.
EDC is Edinburgh’s oldest, most established diving centre. Set up in 1979, the Centre has grown in size and reputation and now comprises a retail outlet, an equipment servicing and testing centre and a training facility.
We offer an unrivalled all-round service to divers both old and new.
Our shop is packed with diving and snorkelling equipment. Most top brands are to be found lurking on our shelves. We know full well that diving equipment varies and that deciding on a make and model of whatever item can be hard work. So, we have an open invitation to everyone to come in, try our stuff on, chat to the staff and take time to consider the options. We have no interest in selling you equipment that you don`t want or need.
Staff at EDC have one thing in common (other than working at EDC). They are all mad keen on diving and have loads of experience of diving all over Britain and many parts of the world. Whether you`re looking for a piece of kit or somewhere to dive, drop in for a chat. But beware - enthusiasm can be infectious!

Make Your Dreams Come True
From PADI Open Water Diver to PADI Instructor, earn an international PADI qualification which allows you to dive anywhere in the world. Learning to dive is a process, so you will be encouraged to dive after your course at no extra cost. You will receive the personal touch with an absolute maximum of 4 students to one instructor per course. The scuba courses include all equipment hire and all course materials, so there are no hidden costs.

Broaden your experiences and equip yourself with the tools to explore a variety of exciting new areas within Scuba diving. You can be assured of a first class education as we have already been awarded 5 PADI certificates for outstanding customer service and professionalism in Scuba instruction.
Location description: The Centre benefits from a well equipped workshop and provides a variety of servicing functions. EDC has the capacity to service and maintain the majority of popular regulators, BCs, BC cylinders, cylinders, cylinder valves and suit valves.
We also replace batteries on most computers and watches.
The workshop`s flow bench ensures the accurate setting of regulators which can be set to customers` preferred breathing resistance.
Units are stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, inspected and necessary parts replaced with original manufacturers` parts.
Every regulator is returned with a chart showing `before and after` performance tests.
After renewing batteries and seals on computers and watches the cases are resealed and the units tested in our pressure chamber for leaks and proper function.
Cameras and camera housings are tested in the same way.

The Centre`s new panels provide air, Nitrox and trimix and is one of the most advanced diving gas delivery systems in the UK. A Haskel booster is used to supply gases from low-pressure storage into high pressure cylinders.
Cylinders are visually and hydrostatically tested to BS5430 under the IDEST system. We are also equipped for cleaning and shot blasting.
All work is carried out on the premises and while we usually ask for a week in which to test cylinders, in exceptional circumstances a cylinder may be ready in a matter of hours.
