Every week our qualified and experienced staff is available at the pool to provide a safe and comfortable environment for you to relax and enjoy your first moments of discovery in a new and exciting underwater world!
With a maximum depth of just on 3 meters, the swimming pool is ideal for you to discover the fantastic weightless feeling and the freedom found in scuba diving.
The evening will start with a short safety brief which will let you know the format of the evening. This allows you to relax and watch as the instructor gives a few instructions on what they will teach you over the next hour. After this we slip into the shallow waist deep water where you get a chance to breathe underwater for the first time. After learning a few easy skills at an easy pace and as and when everybody feels ready we then will work our way to the deep end of the pool. Once there we have some underwater games like Underwater Frisbee for you to enjoy.
Once you have found that you love it and you will, congratulations you`re already on your way to being a qualified diver. Come join us the following week for your next exciting installment to becoming a PADI

We can hire you all the equipment needed or supply you the instructors for any of the PADI courses of your choice.
And here is some information about weekend of diving at the Fort William:
The days diving begins with a slap-up breakfast at a local bed and breakfast. It`s then time to meet up with the Oceandive team in the Underwater Centre canteen. We are split into groups of Openwater, Advanced, Rescue trainees and jolly divers.
We carry our dive kit down beneath the pier onto a steel platform. Our dry stuff stays in the dry shack above. It`s heated and has a kettle for that post dive cuppa. We set up our kit and get ready for the dive brief. There`s a large map on the wall of the shack but most of the instructors have been here numerous times and know the site like the back of their hands.
There is a small gate leading of the platform to the step off point. I look down at the water, which although flat calm, is a murky brown colour. I`m told it`s from the peat in the hills and that I will be amazed at the visibility when I get beneath the peat layer. This is perhaps one of the weirdest parts of diving at Fort William. The top few feet is a fresh water layer and beneath that salt water. Descending through the layers has the effect of passing through a B52 (a mix of Baileys and Cointreau for the uninitiated). It can have an interesting affect on your buoyancy too!
We spend time exploring the Nunkey, on the seabed I discover dogfish, a very small member of the shark family and very cool. There are congers, huge edible crabs, starfish, octopus and lots of fish. Dead men`s fingers, anemones of all different colours and shapes cover the wreck. At this depth a decent torch really is the only way to get a true appreciation of their beauty.
There really is something for everyone!
