Company description As Scotland`s Premier Dive Centre, Puffin incorporates all its facilities on a 3 acre waterside site. The recently completed purpose built centre contains the training, retail and service side of Puffin`s unique operation with further facilities positioned strategically around the site for ease of use.
Access to the centre is as easy by sea as it is by land. Travelling and navigating to the many dive sites locally is quick and easy - the centre is centrally placed with dive sites as close as five minutes away. Both site and centre are second to none; all the facilities are top class making it plain to see from one short visit why Puffin`s reputation is legendary.
To compliment the centre Puffin has a full team of dedicated support staff including three resident PADI Course Directors. Each staff member has successfully certified 100`s of students and is well experienced in handling your needs. Staff are on hand all day to help with advice, local information or any other requirements you may have. Not only do the Puffin staff teach the standard recreational and technical courses but are also well qualified in specialised areas such as ice, wreck, deep and altitude. The centre holds the prestigious PADI Career Development Centre & Gold Palm Five Star Instructor Development Centre ratings and teaches the full range of PADI diver training courses from beginner to Instructor.
Throughout all of the courses the training is comprehensive, including use of drysuits which ensures that you get the best and most suitable training and allows you to dive in UK waters throughout the year. The majority of centres do not teach in drysuits, consequently meaning that another course is required before your certification is truly universal throughout the UK.
Included with ALL courses are the core materials including the manuals and slates, all of which are yours to take home with you after the course and our unique Puffin continuing education course reduction scheme means it gets cheaper to keep your diving education current not the other way around! Not only does Puffin pledge to keep every single PADI product in stock and on display but also in many other languages (where available) which allows you to learn in the language that you want, a novel idea for the many foreign nationals which Puffin teaches each year.
Puffin Dive Centre has four RIBs, 2 unique 12.7 metre super RIBs and the fantastic jet powered catamaran for hard boat dive charter.
The boats operate to full MCA standards and are registered and licensed as small commercial vessels, having a 60 mile operating radius including night operation. Coxing the boat is a Puffin staff member who is a certified and experienced RYA Coastal Skipper; in addition the cox will also hold the minimum qualifications of PADI Instructor, First Aider, Oxygen Provider and GMDSS/VHF operator, The cox is familiar with all the sites visited ensuring that your pre- dive briefing includes everything you need. Puffin has an excellent reputation for safety and professionalism. With twin engines on both boats, this makes the trips fast, reliable and gives an additional safety element. Whatever diving you prefer - scenic, wreck or drift - the full range is covered with distance no object ; your enjoyment and fun is Puffin`s priority.

Location description: The West Coast of Scotland and the Sound Of Mull have excellent diving and are rated as some of the best diving in the world. Accessible from anywhere in the British Isles, Puffin Dive Centre exploits the naturally clear Gulf Stream waters that pass through this region. The area is famous for its many shipwrecks from the days of sail, through the wars to present day with soft corals, sheer underwater cliffs, scenic reefs and fabulous drift dives.

Rib diving from Puffin Dive Centre makes your diving holiday relaxing, effortless and more than anything safer. Some of the best and most varied diving in the country can be enjoyed with huge intact wrecks, spectacular wall dives, drifts, reefs, deep and shallow dives with plenty for all levels and types of diver.
All our coxswains are certified Coastal Skippers who are selected only after rigorous training. They are all experienced Diving Instructors and as a minimum hold the following qualifications, Medic First Aid Instructor and PADI Oxygen Administrator. So you can relax in the knowledge that within our extensive operating area - we never take short cuts on safety and our record is second to none.
For divers without their own equipment a full range of up to date Scubapro, Aquion, Mares and Northern Diver serviced kit, including Nitrox is available for hire
Launching the boat at Puffin is done expertly by our highly trained staff so that you have minimum effort boarding. With a thorough briefing for your comfort and safety once the appropriate woollen headgear is worn by all divers and staff your trip is ready to begin. Traveling to the dive site the Cox will keep the speed to a safe 25-30 knots making your trip comfortable and safe. With the spectacular scenery of the West Coast of Scotland and sightings of Porpoise, Seals and Dolphins (maybe) the traveling time flies by. On approaching the dive site the boat slows to allow you to assemble your equipment ready for the dive with assistance where required from your Coxswain.
