Company description South Yorkshire Diving Academy is a well established vibrant exiting dive operation based in Wath Upon Dearne near Rotherham, South Yorkshire. We are a PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre offering Try Dives and Diver Training at all levels from Beginner through to Instructor including many Specialty courses.
It is owned and run by divers both male and female who between them have a massive wealth of diving experience having visited dive sites all over the world. We are also committed to making this great sport available to everyone. This means our courses and club activities are presented in a manner that is enjoyable, safe and above all fun.
We believe that diving is done for recreational value and not as a form of physical or mental torture. For example all our students are orientated to the safe use of a Dry Suit in a pool environment. As all our open water training is done using Dry Suits to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of our students.
All of our school and hire kit is new and of a very high quality to make sure our customers learn to dive in the very best of dive equipment.
We have a large modern Dive Centre which has two spacious classrooms on site that provide a comfortable environment to learn in, a large retail area with a substantial range of diving equipment from leading suppliers to choose from. Technical workshop and equipment storage areas that ensure all of our school and hire equipment is kept up to the highest standards.
Our compressor is a state of the art silent unit which supplies large quantities of clean air so waiting around for air fills even when the Dive Centre is busy is a thing of the past.
What`s more it is a friendly Dive Centre where it doesn`t matter which training agency you belong to everyone is greeted just as warmly.
Our staff are always on hand to provide help and assistance no matter what your diving needs.
We have set up a dive club for interested members that gives them access to weekly pool sessions for trying out equipment and skills practice. Also we have set up a club system that operates as a non profit making club.
Where all trips and activities are booked and supervised by nominated club officials. Any help required in booking activities or in equipment needs can be supplied by the Dive Centre.
We have regular meetings and social events aimed at both diver and non divers with non diving activities that involve all the family. Charity fund raising events are another area that where we are involved in.
Location description: We offer a wide range of courses in association with PADI which is the largest training agency in the world. We can provide training right up to professional levels. Any theory training required for our courses can be conducted onsite in one of our two purpose designed classrooms so that your training is conducted in clean comfortable surroundings that are conducive to learning using the latest equipment and methods.
Our school kit comprises of new high quality equipment capable of coping with diving in UK waters. Our BCD`s are strong , durable and dependable with plenty of lift to keep you comfortable in the water. As your comfort and enjoyment is paramount to us we train our students in Drysuits, so that all year round our students are as warm and comfortable as possible

Some course details:
Open Water Diver
There are 3 main areas of learning for this particular course.
1.Knowledge Development
Taught in our on site classrooms or done at home using the CD Rom version. We will introduce you to the Theory behind this fascinating sport, and also introduce you to the equipment necessary to take part in a truly exhilarating experience.
2.Pool sessions
Here you will become familiarised with all the equipment needed to participate in diving. We will teach you all the necessary skills to enable you to participate safely and with confidence in this wonderful sport.
3.Open Water Dives
Over the space of two days, we will take you on 4 actual dives in a controlled environment.
During these dives you will demonstrate your mastery of the skills learnt during the pool sessions in an exciting new location.
Specialty Diver
The range of Specialty qualifications currently on off from PADI is extensive however here at South Yorkshire Diving Academy we concentrate on the ones most commonly asked for and which suit UK diving conditions the best.
Any of the Specialties below can be conducted inland or combined with a club dive trip. Also if you specifically require training in a specialty that is not listed below please contact us and we may still be able to arrange training for you in that department. Special price deals may apply to specialty course combinations.
