Location description: Some words about courses
*DRY SUIT DIVER SPECIALITY
The Dry Suit Speciality is a very popular programme for people who dive in this country. You will learn about the types and construction of dry suits, how they function, and care, maintenance and repair of the suits. Because you are now wearing an added air space, this must be taken into consideration when you dive. You will therefore complete a supervised confined water session in order to acquaint yourself with the dry suit before going to open water to complete the two training dives.
*Speciality Courses
There is a wide selection of speciality courses you can take to improve existing skills or to teach you new skills.
-BOAT DIVER SPECIALITY
Now that you are an open water diver you will want to join in the benefits of boat diving. This gives you the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of diving in the open sea from a hard boat or a Rib without the need for a long walk to a shore entry followed by a long swim to the dive site. The techniques needed to dive from a boat are those very different you will have learnt on your Open Water or Advanced Open Water courses. It is essential that you have knowledge of the special skills needed to maintain your safety.
-DEEP DIVER SPECIALITY
As you will know from your Advanced Open Water course, there is a lot to see below eighteen metres. In this country many of the wrecks often lie quite deep, and if you are diving in warmer waters you will no doubt encounter reefs that start below eighteen metres. You will have already experienced how depth changes colours and air consumption. You may have felt the effects of nitrogen narcosis. The Deep Diver Speciality is designed to develop your theoretical knowledge. Your ability to plan, organize and carry out no decompression dives between 18 and 39.5 metres will be enhanced during the four dives included on the course.
-DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE SPECIALITY
Having worked hard to become an Open Water Diver you’ll have the desire to expand your newly acquired diving skills. Using a diver propulsion vehicle can offer some of the most stimulating and exciting challenges in the world of scuba diving. The DPV allows you to explore more of the undersea realm, cover a larger area during a dive and all whilst reducing your air consumption! Becoming a DPV pilot can be a passport to other underwater adventures such as the exploration of the magnificent wrecks littered around our shores with ease and little effort.
-DRIFT DIVER SPECIALITY
How does flying underwater sound to you? That’s exactly what a drift dive is. As you may have discovered during your Open Water course, even if there is only a mild current present, it means you have to work a little bit harder if you want to fin against it. During the Drift Diver speciality you will be taught how to safely plan and carry out a dive during which you will fly through the water, watching the scenery go by, as you do.
and so on
