Company description DiveCSAC is the on-line presence for Cheltenham Sub Aqua Club.
We are located in Gloucestershire, UK and organise regular trips for our members to diving sites on the coast (mainly Devon or Cornwall), inland sites and also diving holidays abroad in places such as the Red Sea.
Within the club we also have a number of qualified instructors to teach diver training to worldwide recognised standards.
Cheltenham Sub Aqua Club (CSAC) was established in its present form nearly 20 years ago. We are a member of the Sub Aqua Association (SAA) which is affiliated to CMAS (the worldwide federation for scuba diving) so all training and qualifications that we can provide are recognised internationally.
We meet Wednesday evenings 9pm till 10pm at the Recreation Centre swimming pool (Tommy Taylors Lane) and then can usually be found afterwards socialising at The Overton, St Georges Road. Most club trips make use of our own boat called called Blue Hotel - a Humber Destroyer 5.8 with 115hp engine.
We take all levels of qualifications and experience from instructor grades to complete novices. Divers are encouraged to broaden their diving knowledge and incentives are available for club members to progress into instructor qualifications.
If you`re already qualified, no matter with which training agency, and want to dive on a regular basis with a friendly bunch then come and see us.
If you want to learn how to dive or even take your existing qualifications further we can provide the necessary training up to dive supervisor within the club as part of club membership and further than that including instructor grades with the SAA on a regional or national level.
Club diving with a recognised agency such as the SAA provides the same high standard of training and care as with any pay-as-you-go agency such as PADI, plus can be also be a relatively cheap way to dive all year round and advance your diving skills.

Annual subscriptions are used to fund the club, with no profit made. The bulk of this covers the hire of the best swimming pool in Gloucestershire for diver training plus the upkeep and maintenance of the club boat and its accessories. Many club members use the pool sessions for fitness swimming if they are not involved with any specific training.
It is assets like these, for use by club members, that enable us to plan regular and exciting diving expeditions at relatively low cost.
New club members receive a Joining Pack which comprises of a ring-binder qualification book, club diving manual and Sub Aqua Association (SAA) membership card.
Membership of Cheltenham Sub Aqua Club also includes SAA third party insurance.
Existing divers who trained with another recognised agency need not retake exams or qualifications. Instead they may be crossed over to an equivalent qualification and either remaing at this level or further their training.
A medical self-declaration form must be completed before diving with the club or diver training can begin.

In most cases an examination is not required, but if one is usually the cheapest place to get this done is from your GP.
When comparing the cost of CSAC subscription fees to other clubs consider whether they run their own boat or whether they resort to chartering boats at extra cost or maybe only undertake diving from the shore or inland quarries.
Likewise, compare the cost of a single course done with a dive school to the subscription fee that will get you the same training (and maybe also more advanced training to follow) as part of being a full member of the club.
However, it is worth noting that if you are a non-diver in a particular hurry to learn, and cost is not too much of an issue, then a dive school can usually train you to the standard required for open water (sea) diving in less time. If you do this, come and see us about joining the club anyway if you want someone to dive with! You won`t have to retrain and could take your diving skills further with us.
