Company description
We are a UK scuba diving club based in Cardiff since 2001, with members from as far away as Ireland but mainly covering South Wales, inc Bridgend, Swansea, Newport and Bristol. Dragons members have years of combined scuba diving experience, from single tank divers to twin sets and side mounts.
Are you looking for a scuba diving club to help you gain experience in a relaxed and social atmosphere? Come along for a chat, Dragons members come from Padi, Bsac and Saa which allows members of the club to share skills, knowledge and experiences.
We offer quarry dives, shore diving, easy hard boat dive trips, advanced dives for the more technical divers and of coures the annual club trip abroad. Just what scuba diving club should offer, plenty of choice for all its members.
We own Tanks, Regulator sets, BCD Jackets, etc.. for members to lend, which helps ease the burden of the initial expense of it all.
Dragons as a Scuba diving club, have access to some of the very best,
and experienced Padi instructors Male and Female. .
Plus dive masters and rescue divers to look after you while you learn to dive.
Which means you can be assured of the very best training, help and advice while you are achieving
the skills required to become a scuba diver.
The Padi diving courses are probably the best value in the area, so if you are looking to learn to dive,
or improve your diving qualifications, then contact us. Available:
*Padi open water diver, which qualifies you to dive to 18 metres
*Padi Advanced diver which qualifies you to dive to 30 metres
*Padi Dry suite courses plus many more options.
*Padi Rescue Diver.

Vobster Quay
``A group of us braved the weather and traveled down to Vobster Quay at the weekend. The air temperature was -2C and the water temp was 6C, it even started snowing heavily!!!! When we found the site, we were met at the gate, by a friendly lady who remembered that we had booked space in the bottom car park and directed us down there. The site is still a bit sparse, as I think they have opened too early and they are not quite ready. There is only a filling station and a Café selling tea, coffee and microwaved food.
The lake itself seems more suited for an experienced diver, there is about 4 inches of silts covering most of the site and if your buoyancy wasn’t spot on, you could have a problem with vis. Unlike Stoney Cove, there is not distinct platform for training and inexperienced divers and most of the diving seems to be in the 16 Meter plus range. At 25 meters the temperature drops again dramatically and torches are essential after about 12 meters as the amount of particles in the water mean that light doesn’t penetrate very far, although this might get better as the silt start to be pushed to the deeper areas.
There are some interesting things to look at, there is a nice long tunnel at about 15 meters and a lot of old quarrying machinery, including what looked to be an old crane. I did 3 dives and didn’t see any fish or other creatures, but with vis of only 4-5 meters at best maybe that’s not too surprising.
If you are planning on going to the site, ensure that you take a mat for getting changed as the car park is made from a chalky stone and it seems to break up and get everywhere. Take your own food and plenty of batteries for your torches!! Although Vobster Quay is not a replacement for Stoney at the moment, it is about an hour closer and we managed to get a space right next to the lake and we didn’t arrive until after 10, so with all considered I would go back again.
