Company description Welcome to ESAC
If you are a scuba diver ( trained by any agency such as BSAC or PADI for example ) and you live within a sensible distance of Eastbourne`s Sovereign Harbour you should consider joining our club.
Tide Prediction for Eastbourne
We are a sub aqua club set up by the members for the members with diving and dive training in mind and therefore do not exist to make a profit unlike schools or other commercial ventures some of which are fronted by a `sub aqua club`. You pay to become a member of our sub aqua club, NOT for any training, even if you are a complete beginner!
Just check out our facilities which include FREE air, boat dives from Sovereign Harbour, friendly instructors and now Nitrox is available from the Nitrox club for those Nitrox trained divers as well. ( If you`re not Nitrox trained and don`t know how this fits into the world of sub aqua diving, don`t worry we have instructors who can teach this too!)
If you are not already a qualified scuba diver we`ll train you to become a safe diver in a friendly club environment. We welcome all divers trained by any agency, not just those who`ve trained with the British Sub-Aqua Club (e.g. PADI or SSAC) who want to just go diving, join a club of like minded individuals or continue their training.
Our instructors are nationally qualified by BSAC, PADI or both! so you can be sure of the best professional instruction.
For any further information on our scuba activities, our club, the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), PADI or scuba training please feel free to contact us.
Originally established in 1968, the Eastbourne Sub-Aqua Club became a formal training branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (B.S.A.C.) in 1972.
The club has a membership of around thirty Five people and still includes some of the original members. We have managed to attract both sexes into the club, from all age groups, and with a wide range of capabilities ranging from Junior Snorkel Diver right up to National Instructor.
Our membership also includes a number of divers and qualified instructors from other organisations, such as PADI who found the club a good way to go diving and to further their qualifications.
Membership provides:
Full BSAC membership, includes BSAC insurance
Eastbourne Sub-Aqua Club membership
Free use of the pool each Wednesday
Free use of the compressors 7 days a week
Access to BSAC training courses
Access to the boat diving programme
Opportunity to join the Nitrox club
We are always looking for new members so if you are interested in diving be sure to contact us.
Instruction
We have a number of experienced, nationally qualified instructors in the club of varying levels. During the last few years we ran the following courses
Snorkeller
Ocean Diver
Sports Diver
Dive Leader
Advance Diver
Dive Marshal
Boat Handler

Club Meeting
Sounds formal, but really quite the opposite. Club members meet on a Tuesday night at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club, Sovereign Harbour , Eastbourne. The evening serves as a social occasion, the opportunity for a drink, to talk to fellow members, and to book your place on the dive boat for the week ahead.
Holidays
Although the club does not run formal dive holidays, there are always trips being planned by the members for the members, here are some examples:
2001 - Weymouth, liveaboard
2001 - The Red Sea, Egypt
2001 - Scapa Flow, Orkneys
2002 - The Red Sea, Egypt.
2002 - Normandy, France. - liveaboard

2004 December - The Red Sea, Egypt.
2005 December - The Red Sea, Egypt.
Location description: The club has worked hard to create and maintain all of the facilities that it needs for diving on the South Coast. These facilities include; Swimming Pool, Equipment, Air & Nitrox, and a Dive Boat, read on for details......
Swimming Pool
every week for training (3m deep end)
The pool is provide free of charge on a Wednesday night every week, and is for club members and their families, and may be used for swimming as well as training. This facility runs for twenty weeks of the year.
Loan Equipment for Students
The club has six full sets of loan equipment for students to use during training, and for use on try dives. Compressors for pumping up to 300 bar. The club has two compressors which all members are trained to use and have access to seven days a week. This facility is free of charge to club members.
Nitrox Provision and Blending Facilities
Some of the experienced Nitrox divers have spent a lot effort getting Nitrox facilities available to the club, and the club has provided advanced Nitrox training for most of the club members.
The Nitrox facilities are kept on location with the compressors and include: a digital pressure gauge, oxygen blending equipment, clean air filters, calculation tables, oxygen analyzer, and of course the oxygen itself. Strictly speaking this facility is a separate club, but is only open to club members that are qualified Nitrox divers. Each member has to pay a small one-off joining fee which goes to cover the initial investment in equipment.
Nitrox is ideally suited for diving off the South Coast in a club environment, and brings additional safety benefits and reduced decompression requirements.

Eastbourne Sub-Aqua Club Boat
Eastbourne Sub-Aqua Club is the proud owner of a Tornado 6.8 Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) powered by a 200hp Mercury Optimax outboard engine. She has a maximum speed of 45 Knots and is fully equipped to support diving on numerous sites from Hastings to Newhaven from her mooring located in Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour adjacent to the Sovereign Yacht Club where the club meets on a Tuesday night.
The RIB was purchased ten years ago, designed to carry between 8 and 10 divers depending on equipment carried and the state of the sea. In 2002 new tubes were fitted and the Mercury Optimax 200 replaced the twin outboards previously used.
Racks are provided for and aft to secure diving equipment. She is equipped with VHF radio, fixed installation GPS and a depth sounder. Usual safety equipment is located on board including emergency Oxygen equipment.
The boat is used from April through October, weather permitting and is under the command of a number of enthusiastic Cox’ns that enables dive trips to take place most weekends and subject to tides etc twice a day.
