Company description We are a very active Scuba diving club in South London. Organised by divers for divers, our aim is to make diving fun and affordable. We are a non-profit making organisation with no agenda other than Diving. We meet throughout the year, with three pool sessions a week and we make regular trips to Wraysbury and to Stoney Cove for qualifying dives and have made weekend dives all around the coast of Britain.
Ethos of Lodge Scuba.
I was introduced to Scuba diving at the tender age of 10. The local Scuba diving club needed a swimming pool and my school came to their aid, but only on the agreement that they accept some children from my school. I arrived on the poolside expecting to be greeted by a herd of fellow school children; however, a very different sight met my eyes. There were some very large and very hairy men in black rubber suits encouraging me to jump in and have a bubble.
Thankfully those days have gone, there are less large men, a lot less hair and far more fun. I loved every moment of my newfound hobby. I attended on a weekly basis after begging and borrowing equipment. I progressed through the ranks and found I had a qualification that allowed me to travel the world.
This is the enthusiasm I hope Lodge Scuba encapsulates and passes on. I believe that Scuba Diving is a sport that can be and should be open to anyone. We do not seek to make a profit, only to cover costs such as air, pool hire etc. This was the philosophy I experienced at 10 and one that I now pursue in the club. At Lodge Scuba we are open to everyone and hope to see you enjoying the exciting world of Scuba diving.
My newfound occupation allowed me to experience Scuba diving in many different contexts. I have been an instructor for many different companies around the world and have been involved heavily with Falmouth Coastguard responsible for search and rescue. In all my jobs, safety has been my paramount concern; this again is the ethos, which is central to my club.
I hope this explains how and why Lodge Scuba was born, even more so, I hope you now find Lodge Scuba as a valuable resource in your community and give us your full supports. I look forward to meeting you but for now, why don`t you come on in and have a bubble.
Location description: We also offer dive training.
*Junipr Scuba Diver
Children can start to Scuba dive from the age of 10 and at this age, with no fear of the water, they quickly learn and become confident in their abilities. Athough Lodge Scuba is Primarily an Adult Dive Club, we do have a few junior members; in fact one of our Juniors recently qualified as a Junior Rescue Diver.
*PADI Open Water Course
We offer three ways to attain your goal of an Open Water Diver qualification. Which way you choose will depend upon individual circumstances such as commitment and aptitude. You will be given more guidance after your initial try-dive.
-Method 1
This is the simplest method. If you have enjoyed your try-dive, are confident in the water and are determined that Scuba is for you, then for a one-off payment of £200, we undertake to train you to Open Water Standard. At Lodge Scuba Academy we understand that some people take longer to become a qualified PADI OPEN WATER divers, this does not affect the cost. It is paramount that you experience diving in an enjoyable and safe atmosphere. The cost includes all pool sessions (practical and theory), air and hire of equipment. It also includes a Dry Suit orientation, ready for your Open Water dives (a Dry suit course itself could cost £150 at other dive schools). Ancillary costs such as accommodation and entry to other dive facilities necessary for your qualifying Open Water Dives are not included.
-Method 2
In order to see whether you enjoy the scuba experience and to allow yoto test your commitment without breaking the bank, we offer three hours of pool training for £25. This does not qualify you to dive, but can be used towards your PADI Open Water qualification
-Method 3
Method 3 is a `referral course`. You will complete all your pool and theory sessions with us but carry out your open water dives abroad; for example, while on your holiday. We will complete all the paperwork with a signed logbook, which will have details of all your pool dives and knowledge reviews. Then, when you go on holiday, all you will have to do is your four qualifying dives. You will qualify as a diver much earlier in your holiday and be able to spend more time underwater. The cost for this course is £85. Please make sure that you start this course well in advance of your holiday, as you will not receive your referral until your Instructor is confidant that you have mastered the skills sufficiently.
*PADI Advanced Open Water Course
Training for the Advanced qualification will improve your dive skills enormously as well as increasing the depth to which you are qualified to dive to 40m, the limit of recreational, no decompression diving.
*PADI Rescue Diver
Hopefully you will never need to use the skills you learn on this course, but the added confidence you will gain after becoming a Padi Rescue Diver will enhance your diving tremendously . It develops your knowledge and skills.
*Master Scuba Diver
...and many more.
