Company description As the name suggests - we`re a Diving Club based in Reading, Berkshire. The diving club is very active with around 200 members and all Divers are welcome (whatever agency!).
So if you`re looking for a friendly diving club with a good diving and social calendar then come along on our club night and check us out. The Diving Club meet in Reading every Wednesday from about 9pm at the Maiden Over pub, Earley.
Not qualified yet, then try giving DiveStyle a call. They run the dive shop in the Maiden Lane Centre in Lower Earley, Reading, Berkshire, and have close links with The Diving Club (they founded it!).
A committee is elected annually and run the diving club for the benefit of the members. We have two elected Dive Organisers, who organise a wide variety of club dives throughout the season, aimed at both newly qualified and `out-of-practice` divers, as well as more experienced divers.
The `orientation` dives for the newly qualified are intended to provide an enjoyable and stress free way of gaining experience and working your way up to more challenging dives.
Other more challenging `club` dives are arranged for experienced divers. Locations include Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland and many other UK locations.
There are usually two or three trips to more exotic locations abroad organised by both The Diving Club and DiveStyle. This gives members a chance to treat themselves to some sun and warm water.
About the Club
The Diving Club was started in the early 90`s by DiveStyle and some of the first students, several of who are still members to this day. The Club has developed and grown with a close affiliation with DiveStyle. The aim of the club is to provide a friendly forum in which newly qualified and experienced divers can go diving together and meet socially. We have a thriving club with nearly two hundred members!. The Diving Club is ``multi-agency`` and welcomes divers from any of the various certification agencies.
The committee are elected annually at the Autumn AGM and run the club for the benefit of the members. We also have a series of social events throughout the year, which are open to the members and their families. The events range from bowling evenings to dinner dances, barbecues and trips to places of interest to divers.
The Diving Club meets on Wednesday evenings in the Maiden Over Public House, in Silverdale Road, Earley, Reading.
Our monthly newsletter, The Hyperbaric Times, keeps members updated on all events, both wet and dry, and welcomes articles and contributions from members...

1. Responsibilities of the Diver
Divers are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate qualification and experience to undertake a particular dive and that their diving experience is current, i.e. that period since their last dive is no greater than that recommended by their qualifying agency. Evidence of qualification may be asked for.
It is the diver’s responsibility to check with the Dive Marshal the day before to ensure that there are no adverse weather conditions which may prevent the dive from going ahead. The Dive Organiser will not contact divers unless there has been a change to previously given advice.
The supply of equipment appropriate for the planned dive is the responsibility of the diver. Standard kit includes (but is not limited to): regulators, (including primary second and alternate second stage), Submersible Pressure Gauge, depth gauge, timing device, buoyancy compensator, cylinder(s), `personal` kit (e.g. mask, fins etc), emergency signal device (e.g. whistle), cutting tool, Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (mandatory on Club Dives), appropriate exposure protection and weight system. Any diver who does not have the appropriate kit may, in the interests of safety of the whole group, be refused entry into the water.
Divers are responsible for planning their individual dives within the limits of their qualifications and those set by the appointed Dive Marshal.
Divers are required to complete the Marshalling Sheet before entry into the water.
Divers must surface no later than 3 minutes after their declared run time (run time being defined as the total time from when the diver leaves the surface to when they are back on the surface) stated on the Marshalling sheet.
