Company description
Diving Trips are available all year round from our base in Brighton Marina.
All levels of Divers are catered for from a novice on the inshore wrecks and reefs from 10m to 30m to deep tec on the offshore wrecks up to 75m (see wreck database for details). A canopy covered deck gives shelter from sunshine and spray from the wind and rain. There is also ample seating for 8, available inside the large forward cabin which can double as a private changing area.
Tea and coffee is always available.
There is a toilet fitted in the forward cabin.
Easy access onto the boat when loading.
Entry into the water is by backward roll from the side of the boat.
Getting back onto the boat could not be easier, this is via a side mounted electric ladder.
Help and advice is always available to make your trip more enjoyable.
Brighton Diver is a 33ft Aquastar, built to D.O.T specification and confirming to Marine Safety Agency requirements to carry 12 passengers and 2 crew up to 60 miles from any safe haven. Powered by 2 x 250 hp New Holland turbo charged diesels fitted in 2004, giving a cruising speed of 17 knots with a top speed of 22 knots.
Electronic aids aboard include 2 echo sounders, differential GPS, plotter, two VHF radios, radar autopilot. A comprehensive First Aid Kit and an Oxygen Therapy Unit is always ready for emergency use. Whilst on the boat, 3rd part insurance to
Location description:
The Marina
The marina is a hive of activity offering extensive marine services including repairs, brokers, rigging, chandlery and shipwrights. The new waterfront development has shops, bars, restaurants, while a cinema, bowling alley, casino, hotel and health club complete the picture.
A four-year refurbishment is nearly complete enhanced security, excellent pontoons, ablutions, an extended fuel bay, and a boat scrubber unit. The new marina reception is located on the upper level of the West Jetty and provides an even better service to customers at this, the largest marina is the UK.
Wrecks:
*Alauna
13.405 ton Cunard Liner. 520 ft long. Built 1913 Steel Hull.
Position: 50 41. 03N 00 27. 17W. Depth 13m - 36 to the seabed.
Sunk: October 19th 1916, hit a mine on the return trip from New York to London, two died.
Diving: The biggest wreck on the Sussex Coast. Lying on a port side, bow points to the east. Extensive break up mid sections but still a very impressive site. Highest point from the scours of 3m is charted at 13.1m.
*Areal
2.200 ton 300ft streamer, two master transporting wheat to Varna, Hamburg
Position: 50 38 54 N; 00 24 48 W. Depth 28m
Sunk: 10th June 1892. Collided with the Lancashire in fog on her way to Liverpool from London.
Diving: The decks have collapsed and ribs can be seen. The stern is on its keel and upright, while the bow is deeper but intact. Engine can be seen and the rudder wheel is visible.

*SY Argonaut
334ft Luxury Steam yacht
Position: 50 48 33N; 0050 32E , Depth 32
Sunk: 29yh September Rammed in fog.
Diving: Lying bows to the South East on an even keel, stern and bows are intact, take care for trawl nets are a hazard. Scallops abound.
*Blanefield
3.411 ton Steamer
Position: 50 41 11N; 00 08 24W, Depth, 30m
Sunk: 1st may 1906 in collision with the Kate Thomas. 36 died.
Diving: Highlights are the triple expansion engines sitting 6m high, the wreck stands 2m high with a 3m scour at the stern. There is also some confusion about another wreck at the same spot.
*Braunton
4.575 ton 380ft British Merchantman
Position: 50 38 54N; 00 10 45E, Depth, 30m
Sunk: 7th April 1916 Torpedoed by UB29
Diving: Bows to the west stern stand 13m high, Cargo of Shells,1,800 tons Stern is intact on her port side, shell and ammunition all around.
*Cairndhu
4,019 Armed British Merchantman.
Position: 50 37 27N; 00 26 14W, Depth, 42m
Sunk: 15 April 1917, Torpedoed by UB 40 on here way to Gibraltar from Tyne with a cargo of coal. UB 40 surfaced and rammed one of the two lifeboats killing 11 men.
Diving: lies east to west bows to the west. Boilers and engine stand 6m proud, ammunition and guns lay 30m from the stern.
