Company description
Waterline is a boat charter business based around a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). This gives flexibility in the type of charter work we undertake and allows us unrivalled access to the stunningly beautiful coastline of North Wales.
We can put you on sites to take account of the trainees experience and ability, and also provide excellent underwater scenery. Using Waterline frees you from organising both a boat and divers.
Waterline operates a Tornado 6.5m deep-V hulled RIB with excellent sea handling characteristics. This RIB has been coded as a work-boat and so has ALL the safety features required by law. We have installed the following...
• GPS
• Depth sounder
• VHF radio, lifebuoys
• Lifejackets
• Liferaft and much more
The Rib`s main engine is a powerful 130hp Honda four-stroke unit, which is very quiet, has excellent fuel economy, and has none of the unpleasant smells associated with older two-stroke motors. A small auxiliary engine is fitted as a back up.
Paul Turkentine, the skipper, is a keen and active scuba diver (BSAC Advanced), an underwater photographer and marine naturalist. He is an ex-National Trust Countryside Warden and has interests in conservation, the natural world and the marine environment. He is a member of Menai Sub-Aqua Club (a local BSAC Special Branch) and the Marine Conservation Society. Paul is also the North Wales Regional Coordinator for...
Paul has an intimate knowledge of the diving around the Lleyn and Bardsey. He has worked on scientific surveys around the North Wales coast and has extensive local knowledge of its undersea world. Here there is diving to suit all levels of experience.
Waterline gives a personal approach, and the Rib has been set up with this in mind. We can take from 4 to 8 divers. This has many advantages and means that each dive trip can be individually tailored to the groups own requirements
If you want to holiday in North Wales and diving is one of many activities you wish to do, or if you have a small group and don`t want to hire a large hard boat, or if you simply don`t want to tow your own or club boat, then Waterline is just the operator for you!
Location description:
Waterline operates over a very large area, although mainly around the Lleyn Peninsula. We are able to travel and launch from many of the slipways and ports in North Wales (or even beyond). This means that we have access to the whole of:
*Lleyn peninsula
*Tremadog Bay
*Bardsey Island
*Menai Strait
*Isle of Anglesey, and more
COASTAL TRIPS
North Wales has much stunningly beautiful scenery, and seeing its coasts from the sea is an entirely new experience. Our Rib will give you access to quiet, unvisited bays and inlets, isolated islands and white sandy beaches.
The underwater scenery is very varied - from strongly tidal pinnacles, bays and cliffs with Jewel and rare Parazoanthus anemones, to large living reefs of mussels and their associated marine life.
BIRD WATCHING
We can give you sea access to all those areas that you always wanted to see, including:
*islands
*sea cliffs
*birds out at sea
The quiet four-stroke engine minimises disturbance, and allows close observation.
MARINE MAMMALS
North Wales has a large population of both resident and migratory cetaceans. Sightings have been made on a regular basis of Harbour Porpoises, Bottlenose and Risso Dolphins, Basking Sharks and very occasionally Pilot, Minke and Killer whales. There has even been a sighting of a Leatherback Turtle! The best areas for seeing such creatures are in Cardigan Bay, around Bardsey Island and the Skerries.
SEALS:
The coastline of North Wales offers the opportunity to see Seals in their natural environment. They haul out at low tide to sun themselves on remote and inaccessible rocks and small sheltered bays where they can be visited and be watched from Waterline`s quiet RIB.
