Location description: Goldenjoy Dive offer a selection of diving holidays in the Red Sea - Egypt and the Mediterranean waters of Cyprus, Greece and Turkey with some of the best dive sites & centres.
*Egypt
Much of the diving is centred around the northern reaches in Egypt and Israel where dive resorts have flourished and now places such as Dahab, Nuweiba, Sharm el Sheikh, El Gouna, Hurghada and Taba offer divers modern facilities, plenty of accommodation and aprés dive activities and of course access to the best diving in the region.
Some of the most famous dive sites in the world are found here. Names such as Ras Mohammed, The Wreck of the Thistlegorm, The Straits of Tiran and Abu Nuhas reef are all located in one small patch of sea where the Red Sea splits into the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba.
*Cyprus
The crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea average temperatures between 15-27 degrees. Underwater attractions include the site of a World War I wreck and a stunning exhibit of emerald green damsels, playful octopus, huge groupers and a beautiful assortment of colourful sponges. The amount of diving often surprises many who try it here; there are sites all around the coast. The majority of dive sites that abound in Cypriot waters are not more than a few minutes away by boat.
*Turkey
Diving conditions are excellent throughout the diving season, April to November, and clear waters with visibility of up to 30 metres is normal. The underwater landscape is varied with reefs, walls, drop-offs and caverns. Marine life may not be as profuse as that found in tropical seas but on most you will encounter a range of species of fish including groupers, morays, sting rays and bream.
The area is rich with underwater artifacts. Coming across a pile of broken amphora or ancient pottery underwater is always an exhilarating experience, a close encounter with the history of these shores.
*Greece
Clear blue waters and the exciting underwater world entice divers to the Greek shores. Amongst the many dive sites around the islands, there are hundreds of sites still awaiting discovery and many marked for archaeological study. Seawater temperatures around the Greek islands are on average between 15-30oC. Numerous species of fish, octopus, grouper and other colourful marine life ensure dives are fascinating as well as fun. Caves and wrecks are extremely favourable amongst the more experienced divers; all are in awe of the colourful rock and sponge formations and the ever-visible history that can be found beneath the sea.
