Company description PoD Diving is a part of Personal Overseas Development (PoD), set up to specifically focus on diving opportunities around the world.
PoD was set up in 2001 by Mike Beecham, Alex Tarrant and Rachel Smith. Our lives have been shaped by the many different places we have travelled, the people we have met and the things we have done around the world. We are passionate about helping others to share these experiences and to get and give the most out of life.

If you love the deep blue and want an exciting challenge, or if you fancy getting paid for doing something you love, then you can take one of our PADI scuba diving programmes or join our marine conservation project.
You may be on your gap year, taking a career break or having a holiday. Our programmes range from 1 week 'Learn to Dive' trips, to 6 month 'Go Pro' Instructor courses opening up a completely new career and lifestyle.
You may have already done lots of scuba diving or you may have never dived before - these programmes are open to all levels of diver.
We are a small company that focuses on quality and safety rather than quantity.
Location description: We currently offer diving in 2 outstanding locations:
*Thailand - the tropical island of Koh Tao
*Australia - The Great Barrier Reef
*Dive Thailand
You will be based on Koh Tao, a beautiful and fun island in the Gulf of Thailand, which is now one of the world’s top dive training locations. Koh Tao is surrounded by an excellent range of dive sites, all within a 40 minute boat ride, where you will discover a mix of hard and soft corals and abundant marine life. The sites vary in depth from just a few metres down to 40 metres, there is little current and the water temperature is always warm, ranging from about 27°C to 31°C. Visibility varies, but on average is around 10 metres. On a good day it can be up to 30 metres.
Diving is very social and there is a big dive community on the island so you will usually find yourself rounding off the day with everyone heading to the dive school bar to watch the sunset and the day’s dive video, before eating at one of the many restaurants. There are also plenty of bars and venues for late night island fun!
*Dive Australia
The Great Barrier Reef is generally not a deep dive destination. The dive sites have an average depth of 10-25 metres and visibility ranges from 10-30 metres. Water temperature ranges from 22° to 28°C allowing comfortable diving all year round.
The dive school we work with has 16 exclusive dive sites on 4 spectacular outer reefs. The Thetford, Pellowe, Milln and Flynn reefs are situated on the Outer Great Barrier Reef, South East from Cairns. These sites are rarely visited by other vessels so divers have the opportunity to view magnificent corals and fish life without the crowds.
