Live onboard the White Horse with family and friends from as little as
Location description: The Weymouth and Portland area needs little introduction to many divers. A great venue for weekend or week diving and an awesome selection of wrecks, including the :
M2 /32m, Pommerainean/36m, Salsette/46m, St Dunstan/27m, Frognor/34m, UB74/34m, Buccaneer/45m, Moidart/36m, HMS Boadicea/54m, Avalanche/52m, Sidon/35m, Martha/42m, Merchant Royal/56m, Landrail/34m, P555/40m. Aeolian Sky/30m, Start/34m, Alex Van Opstal/30m, Elena R/30m, Warrior/52m, Arfon/36m, Blackhawk(stern)48m, Iolanthe/42m, Benedijkt/26m.
There are also plenty of smaller wrecks in sheltered water under 20metres, and the reef diving around Portland Bill is exceptional. To finish your weekend / week the traditional Scallop Bash on the famous Lulworth Banks, with always the chance of finding a 4.5 shellcase as well as a bag of scallops!.
A diving expedition onboard `White Horse` allows you to undertake a wide range of diving and we are able to assist you in tailoring your dive plan you suit your group`s individual requirements and abilities.
Our Expeditions to Normandy have proved very popular with groups looking for something different and unique! Two World Wars and the D-Day landings have left the French coast from Cherbourg to Le Havre littered with interesting and seldom dived wrecks.
There are old steamships, troopships, merchant men, landingcraft , U-boats and Destroyers, some complete, covered with fish and some still standing a massive twenty four metres! The Susan B Anthony and the LST 523 with her cargo of Sherman tanks, are among two of the finest inshore wrecks in the channel!
The Seine Bay is well protected from South and West prevailing winds. Visibility is generally good, 12-15 metres is common in August and September, and most D Day wreck sites are in the twenty to thirty metres depth range.
During periods of plankton bloom we encourage our more advanced groups to search for new and seldom dived wrecks between thirty to fifty metres where the water is usually dark but clear. Most of the offshore wrecks in this region date back to the 1914-18 war, with perhaps the Cornucopia at 40 metres being the pick of the bunch..
Our base for the week is the delightful fishing port of St Vaast la Hougue. It is a friendly town and there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and bars. St Vaast has a wide lock gate window and is perfectly situated for diving in the Central and Western Sectors of the Bay. Before the end of your trip we try to make sure there is an opportunity to stock up on beer and wine and deliveries can be made to the boat!
Days are long and enjoyable and it is often possible to do two wreck dives a day (tides permitting).
