Company description After learning to dive in Manitoba’s dark, cold water Dean Mark decided to take his hobby and make it a business.
So, after moving to Muskoka and finding the Scuba Shack; Dean joined the team as a dive master. When the owners of Scuba Shack decided to sell the business Dean and Jane took the leap.
Now in the 26th year of business (23 years at the same location); the Scuba Shack is the only Dive retailer (now available on-line) and full recreational and technical instruction facility in Muskoka. We also operate a full repair facility with certified technicians.
With 4 SDI Instructors and 8 dive masters as well as a technical instructor on the roster, our staff are fully trained and qualified to assist with any dive related requirement.
Scuba shack is the only year round dive store in the Muskoka area. The owner/operators are avid dive enthusiasts plus certified sport and technical dive instructors. Their expertise ensures that Scuba Shack customers will be offered the largest selection of quality equipment, first class instruction and service which is second to none. The entire staff is dedicated to making your diving experience the most rewarding possible.
Scuba shack employs some of the most professional and knowledgeable instructors available in central Ontario. Being an SDI Training Facility, TDI Training Facility and PADI Training Facility. Scuba Shack can offer you a large variety of courses from novice to technical, to career oriented. All courses offered at the Scuba Shack are international certifications.

Scuba Shack boasts the most complete and comprehensive regulator, tank, valve and suit repair department north of Toronto. We are a certified C.T.C. hydro-static test centre. The highly trained staff technicians make sure equipment service and repairs are completed properly and in a timely manner.

*Waome
Scuba Shack offers extraordinary dives in the Muskoka area. Our first being The Waome. She is one of the most pristine, diveable wrecks in Ontario. Dive this great wreck and enjoy some of our Muskoka history.
Ojibwa Indian word meaning Water Lily. Originally named the Mink, the Waome now lies underneath the serine waters of Lake Muskoka. On the morning of October 6, 1934, en route from Port Carling to Beaumaris, a freak storm caught her broadside and left her on the bottom of the lake just west of Keewaydin Island. In about 70 feet of water, this 78’ steel hulled wooden steamer is sitting upright and is still almost fully intact.
Sitting upright and intact in dark, tea-colored water, the vessel`s original white paint still clings to her wood in places. The subtle glow of the bit of light that makes it to this depth reflects eerily off the Waome`s 78` hull. Penetration of this wreck is possible; from the upper deck past the wheelhouse, the diver can descend down the stairway to the lower deck or head towards the fantail. The cargo doors on the second deck are open on both sides allowing divers to swim through from one side to the other. There are many other areas to be explored on this vessel. We recommend minimum Advanced Certification for this dive. Maximum depth of this dive is 70 ft.
Come and board our custom built 32’ charter boat. Specially designed to accommodate scuba divers, the pontoon boat holds 10 people comfortably. The entire charter lasts from 2 to 3 hours. Boarding takes place 15 minutes before departure at the dock in Milford Bay. Experienced divers may penetrate this wreck. Lights and a wet or dry suit are a necessity. Visibility is from 10 - 15 feet.
Recommended Advanced Diver or an Open Water diver with at least 20 logged dives.
*Bird Island Wall & The Platform
The Bird Island Wall is a dive which bottoms out around 100 feet. The wall goes down in levels with a ledge at approximately every 15 feet. This island itself is a bird sanctuary and is particularly interesting during the month of June when the Blue Herons return from the south and nest here to hatch their young. The Platform is a dive area originally set up as a training site for part of the advanced diver programs. With as max. depth of about 50 feet, it is the numerous boats, toilets, tire reef filled with fish, and town water intake line that make this such an interesting dive. Boat leaves from Segwun Park Dock, Gravenhurst. Recommended Advanced Diver or Open Water diver.
*Lake Joseph Wall and Grotto
Our Lake Joseph charter includes two dives aboard the Bottom Times II, First is our wall dive, a fantastic experience with depths up to 285` for those advanced technical divers, so good buoyancy and lights are definitely required. The second is a more relaxing dive amidst the Grotto. Swim-throughs abound in this semi cavern dive site and at a relaxing max depth of 55`, it is the perfect way to end the day`s diving.
