Location description: P-47 Thunderbolt - WWII Aircraft Wreck
Location: West of Windsor Beach, North of Crazy Horse Camp Ground, South of the Delta.
Depth: 50 - 65 feet
Visibility: 1 - 30 feet
Current: 2 - 7 knots
Skill level: Advanced - Advanced Navigation
Site Six, in the old days, was an Army Rest & Recreation Base during WWII. The aircraft landed at the old airport and the pilots would play in the blue clean waters of Lake Havasu. Then, for fun, they would strafe the mountains behind the city. Bullets and shell casings can still be found near Crossman`s Peak. At any rate, one of the P-47s didn`t make it!
Position the your boat so that the white water tower, the small one to the Northwest, on the California side, is at 300 degrees and the huge American Flag on the Arizona side is at 120 degrees. Then, run that line until the houses at Crystal Beach are at 030. Underwater, look for the river rock beds, the aircraft is sitting on the banks of the old river (before they filled up the lake). Your first goal is to find the river bed, next run the Arizona bank, if it starts getting shallow, turn around and run the bank the other way.
Miller`s Folly - a Paddle Wheeler Wreck
Location: Directly across from Site Six Marina
Depth: 20 -35
Visibility: 10 - 50
Current: None
Skill level: Basic
Miller`s Folly is a 40 foot long, double decked sternwheeler built in the early days of Lake Havasu. It`s made of steel pipe, oil drums, a `49 Ford Engine, a plow wheel, oak paddles, and a world of ingenuity. The Folly went down in 1961. It`s quite a site!! Directly across from site six there is a huge cove with one little bitty island in it with a few trees. Park your boat on the south side and swim at a heading of 180. WARNING!! Bad Mojo, Bad Juju, and Bad Luck will befall on you if you disturb this wreck. Look but don`t touch!!
Copper Canyon
Location: Just look for all the boats in the canyon, down river on the Calif. side.
Depth: 20 - 45 feet
Visibility: 10 - 50
Current: None
Skill level: Basic - Night diving
This is the place for Treasure Hunting! Every weekend, almost year around, this cove is filled with fun loving party people who like to consume mass amounts of alcohol. Houseboats, jet boats, jet skis, big boats, little boats, new boats, old boats, expensive boats, cheap boats... You get the picture!! These fun loving people like to get naked and jump off the rocks. They lose everything - sunglasses (some of them are expensive), watches (even Rolex), rings, necklaces, wallets, money rolls, etc., etc., etc. Be careful, they like to toss anchors at your bubbles. This site is best dove at night, after the crowd has left!!
and many others.
