``There is no substitute for proper training.`` This is a philosophy shared by every member of the diving community. Unfortunately, many divers disregard this principle because they believe it will take too much time or cost too much money. Attending a deep sea diver school is certainly an option. But for a department wanting to perform their own inspections, searches, recoveries or light salvage, enrolling in a deep sea diver course is not only incredibly expensive, but considerably long and usually requires relocation. Nonetheless, choosing an advanced recreational course to satisfy clearly professional needs is not the answer. The National Association of Public Safety Divers, Inc. an innovative and dynamic diver development organization, offers an entire spectrum of educational opportunities designed to ``bridge the gap`` that exists between advanced recreational and SRT diver training. Whether your pursuits focus on law enforcement, public service, medical, military, scientific, or private enterprise, NAPSD can provide you with a multitude of unequaled services that will increase your safety and ensure your department`s personal success.
State-Of-The-Art Training:
Classroom discussions, in-depth lectures, and graphic audiovisuals, only accent our unique courses. NAPSD focuses on extensive field work designed to expand the comfort zone of each student. Every facet of the learning process is evaluated meticulously in order to develop a training agenda that will not only create a satisfied client, but a safe proficient, knowledgeable diver as well.
Certification Program:
Participation in a sanctioned NAPSD course does not guarantee certification. Students who successfully complete one of our demanding training programs are awarded with a nationally recognized NAPSD certification. Each certification denotes that the bearer has met and exceeded the highest standards established for that particular level of achievement.
Limited Enrollment:
In order to thoroughly prepare a student for actual diving operations, he or she must receive constant attention from the instructor. This is the only credible means of determining both the academic growth and actual ability of the SRT diving candidate. NAPSD lnstructors limit the number of students that enroll in any surface supplied/specialty diver course. Small classes coupled with continual observation, comprehensive academics, and realistic open water objectives reinforce the superiority of NAPSD.

To ensure the success and enjoyment of each student, each instructional affiliate with NAPSD comes to our organization bearing years of commercial, SRT- diving knowledge highlighted by unlimited educational resources. With more than a century of combined experience amongst our senior staff, NAPSD continually proves itself to be the cutting edge in diver training.

| Our Training Courses:
*Public Safety Diver Awareness Class - 10 Hours
This class is designed for the administrative agency members as well as the team personnel to have an awareness to what type of commitment of education, training and equipment involved with a functional professional public safety dive team.
*River Diving - Three Days
Participants will be instructed in safe procedures for river diving, river physiology, site evaluation and subsurface swift water recovery techniques.
*Light Salvage and Recovery - Two Days
Participants will learn how to use specialized lifting equipment and apply salvage techniques in order to recover autos, aircraft, boats, etc., that cannot be retrieved in more conventional ways. Participants will practice a variety of lifting techniques in open water with concentration on underwater crime scenes and investigation.
*Haz-Mat - Two Days
This is not another Haz-Mat course but a program designed to give administrators and divers an awareness of the equipment and techniques available today in dealing with polluted water diving. Participants will learn the basics of tethered or umbilical diving with communications. They will be fully encapsulated in a dry suit and helmet or full face mask or helmet with surface-supplied air.
*Introduction to Surface-Supplied Air - One Day
Participants will learn the basics of tethered or umbilical diving, during which time they will use full face mask or helmet with a surface air supply.
*Search and Recovery - Three Days
Participants will be able to aggressively respond to the accident scene, insure their own safety while rescuing / recovering a victim or object; collect data, evaluate the sight for hazards; select appropriate equipment and apply proven methods and techniques.
*Underwater Investigator- Two Days
Participants will be able to identity vital evidence in water-related situations, plan and execute the underwater operation and document the mission in preparation for courtroom testimony.
*Underwater Accident Crime Scene Photography - Three Days
Participants will be able to use specialized underwater video and photographic equipment, apply under water photographic techniques to identify problems, options, and appropriate solutions and adjust techniques to meet specific needs.
*Hazardous Devices Recognition - 2 Days
This course will enable the student to recognize military, commercial and improvised explosives and their potential dangers. The class will also help your team set guide lines for possible dangers.
