Company description
Offering full days of personalized instruction and training to the cavern diver, full cave diver, or technical diver anywhere. We are dedicated to create the best experienced and proficient divers in scuba, cavern, cave, and technical diving, second to none other, from our facility right here in Lake City, Florida.
Safe Cave Diving is passion and an art. Cave Diving passion can be defined as a definiteness of purpose, knowledge of one`s wants, and a burning desire to explore it. View some of Florida`s caves and springs - home of the world`s best cave diving: Peacock State Park, Orange Grove, Cows Spring, Telford Spring, Little Rivers Spring, and Ginnies Spring.
Because of the inherent risks associated with cavern and cave diving, development of safe techniques and skills is essential for diving in an overhead environment. Our courses focus on divers becoming proficient in the fundamental principles of diving. Cavern diving instruction includes, but is not limited to, the diving environment, body positioning, buoyancy control, emergency procedures, line following, propulsion techniques, accident analysis, silting, entanglement, and equipment modification. Our cave diving courses expand upon the skills acquired in the cavern diving program. Emphasis is on cave diving planning and execution, with exposure to various cave diving scenarios, and cave dives entail penetrations that allow divers to progress at a comfortable pace. Our courses involve extensive pre-dive preparation and post-dive critiques and analysis in order to provide students with the proper foundation for future safe diving.
The process of becoming a cave diver is broken down into the following stages: Cavern training, Introduction to Cave (Intro-to-Cave) training, or Apprentice Cave, and Cave training. The entire cave certification can be completed in approximately one week. Beyond Full Cave Diving there are specialty courses, such as Technical Diving Courses, Stage Diving to extend your range and bottom time, and Cave Scootering (Diver Propulsion Vehicles) not to mention a few.
Technical diving is a discipline that utilizes special methods, equipment, training and skills to improve underwater safety and performance, enabling divers to explore a wide range of underwater environments and perform tasks beyond the scope of the recreational open water diver. It is conducted in the ``overhead environment`` of a cave, wreck, or decompression ceiling where the diver cannot freely ascend to the surface. We are striving to impress upon the diver the immense value that caves possess and the importance of conserving and protecting these extremely fragile resources. These certifications are offered by pioneer agencies such as IANTD and TDI.
Equipment modification is an important part of cave diving. It allows the diver to penetrate the overhead environment. Not all open water equipment is suitable for diving in the overhead environment. The equipment to dive the overhead cavern/caves is highly specialized and distinguishes the recreational diver from the cavern/cave diver.
Cave divers need substantially more exposure protection since they go deeper and remain far longer than the recreational diver. Where the typical recreational dive seldom lasts longer than 30 to 40 minutes, cave dives can last up to 90 minutes or more -- plus decompression.
We encourage you to consult with us first prior to purchasing any equipment. Your choice of equipment is totally personal. However, to ensure you have the proper apparatus allow us to assist you in making decisions based on our experience. There is a wide range of selection in each area with a wide range in pricing. More is not necessarily better.
Renting equipment is another option. Since Equipment is constantly changing and you may find that the equipment you purchased was not the best choice, causing you stress and wasted dollars.
