Interested? Start today. It all begins with a certified Aqua Ventures dive instructor. After a brief orientation with your instructor, you take your first underwater adventure in a swimming pool. There you`ll learn to use scuba equipment and get accustomed to your new surroundings. This exciting first step into the world of scuba diving is just enough to wet your appetite. Your next step is to become a certified Open Water Diver!
Aqua Ventures has a standing booking with Seafari Charters on the last Sunday of the months of May through September. Diving either the Ledge or Isles of Shoals. The first two dive dates will be to the Isles of Shoals for Seal diving near Mingo Rock and Seal Cove on Duck Island at the northern tip of the shoals. This is a great dive opportunity to dive with the seals. The charter is limited to 10 divers. Divers wishing to go along should call the shop to register. Deposits confirm your spot.
Seafari is a 42’ twin screw cabin cruser with plenty of room for divers and their gear. Barry and company offer the areas ``BEST`` and safest charter we have had the pleasure of sailing with. Seafari Charters offers diving off the New Hampshire coast to the Isles of Shoals and the Boone Island Ledge in Maine. Seafari Charters departs from Badgers Island in Kittery Maine.
During the months of June through September the following dates have been secured as Sunday Dive charters to the Isles of Shoals or the Boon Island Ledge.
All trips range from $65 - $75 per diver and are 2 tank dives. Please contact Aqua Ventures at 603-598-5100 to reserve your spot. All trips leave the dock at 8:00 am and return to port at 3:00 pm. Divers are requested at the dock 30 minutes before departure.

The training staff at Aqua Ventures Dive Center consists of six instructors, four equipment technicians, five PSI tank inspectors and 11 divemasters.
Location description: Some dive sites:
*Cedar Island, southeast side of Cedar Island. Depths to 60 ft. Slight tidal current with wind current at the surface. Cedar Island Ledge, Approximately 700 yards southeast of Cedar Island. Depths to 140 ft. Tidal currents may be strong. Pyramid Valley, southeast side of Cedar and Smuttynose islands. Depths to 25 ft. in the cove with 60 ft. near the mouth of the cove. Some wind currents on the surface. Gosport Harbor, northeast side of Star Island. Depths range to 60 ft. Currents are slight and many artifacts may be found here. Bottom is mud and gravel
*Endicott State
Good diving here before and after the season. Some artifacts. Sandy bottom turns to silt just off shore. Depths to 25 ft. Buoyancy control must be good to avoid silt-out conditions.
*B & M Rail cars. Rocky Rip-Rap on shore with crossed Birch trees indicates dive spot. Bottom drop off is steep. 40 ft from shore puts you in 35 - 40 ft of water. Site is marked by a milk bottle several feet below the surface.
* ``Lady of the Lake``, wreck. Pig Island is a small island on the eastern tip of Varney Point. The LADY was a 120 ft. steamship that ferried passengers on the lake. She sank in 1895. Her deck is in 25 ft. with the bottom averaging about 35 ft. Seeing this is at the entrance to a busy cove, much boat traffic may be encountered. There are many wrecks listed on the lake map however they may not be located exactly as indicated on the map. A good depth plotter will help in locating wrecks.
*Blodgett’s Landing. Watch for sign marking the left-hand turn to the landing. The 90 ft steamship ``Edmund Burke`` burned to the waterline and sank in the early 1930’s. Its remains lie is shallow water in front of the only cottage located between the road and the lake. Divers have found anchors and fishing tackle at this site as well as old bottles from the settlement’s early days.
*``The Ledges``. Access is by boat only. The Ledges was formed when a road was blasted in the side of the mountain. The granite boulders slid into the water forming a unique underwater wall. Depth from shore may average to over 80 feet. Rocks the size of a small house remain a home for many fish. During the summer months anglers fish from the rocky shore and often loose their lures. Divers should exercise caution when diving the area so as not to become entangled in fish line. If you dive this spot, take a catch bag with you and bring back some of the bottles and cans deposited by travelers along the road. We dove this spot in August of 1997 when the surface water temp was 77 degrees. At a depth of 40 ft. we hit a thermocline where our temp was 41 degrees. Silt covers the rocks the deeper you go.
