Company description Aqua Sports, Austin`s longest continually operated Scuba diving and Aquatics Center. We are a full service aquatics training and retail center for SCUBA, Snorkeling, Swimming and Water Aerobics for all ages and physical abilities.
Whether it`s your first time in the water, becoming a dive professional, or something in between, let our highly trained and knowledgeable staff assist you with your aquatic aspirations. We are the only true technical dive shop in Austin, offering both Nitrox and Trimix fills as well as technical certifications.
At Austin Aqua Sports, we offer SCUBA instruction from both PADI, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and NAUI, the National Association of Underwater Instructors in small, personal classes usually no more than four students per class. Keeping our classes small gives you more instructor time and skills practice with less time just waiting on others.
Have a group, large or small, looking to take dive training together? Have an odd schedule? Want private lessons? No problem. We offer regularly scheduled weekend and weekday courses and can work with you for custom schedules. Give us a call, email or come by the shop. Curious if you`d like SCUBA diving but are afraid it`ll cost you an arm and a leg to find out? Then check out our Discover SCUBA classes. The PADI Discover SCUBA programs let you experience the thrill of diving under the supervision of a PADI Instructor in a pool. During this class, you`ll master some basic concepts and SCUBA skills that will count toward your open water class. Call or come by today to set up a Discover SCUBA class. $100
Open Water class is the first level of certification you need to dive anywhere in the world. You will learn all the basics of SCUBA diving in this class. The class usually takes two weekends to complete, but we also have classes during the week, or we will set one up for you. All books and rental gear are included. All you need is a bathing suit and a towel. $295
Are you ready to take your diving to the next level? Advanced class will teach you how to better control your bouyancy, how to shoot a lift bag, search and recovery techniques, and much more. You will also be eligibile to take specialty classes and dive in locations that are only open to advanced divers.

Nitrox, or enriched air, is the most popular specialty class in the world. Nitrox allows you to stay down much longer than you could with air. The basic Nitrox class will certify you to use enriched air mixes containing up to 40% Oxygen. Once you start diving Nitrox, you won`t want to go back to diving air!

Are you a ready to learn how to assist other divers in trouble? Rescue class will teach you the skills to succesfully rescue other SCUBA divers in distress, as well as teaching you self rescue techniques. First Aid, CPR, and Advanced class are all pre-requisits for taking Resuce Class.

Divemaster is the first level of professional training in the dive industry. This class will challenge you, and take your knowledge of diving science to the next level and make you a leader in the dive community. Divemaster is the longest and most involved class in recreational diving. Once you have completed Divemaster training, you will be able to teach some classes and assist instructors with others.
Whether you just dive the warm waters of the Caribbean or push the envelope of deep cave penetration, at Austin Aqua Sports we carry a wide variety of equipment to suit your style of diving. Our knowledgeable staff will assist you in choosing the appropriate gear for your diving style and budget.

Location description: Austin Aqua Sports` 6,000 square foot facility with our 12 foot deep, heated pool is located just north of the University of Texas main campus in the beautiful Hyde Park area. Being centrally located, we serve clientele from all areas of the Austin Metro Area.
We have have a full service travel agency specializing in dive and adventure travel. We constantly have specials on trips, or we can book any trip you may desire to go on. If your thinking of taking a dive vacation, come in and take advantage of our knowledge of worldwide dive operations.

*Eight Divers went to Cozumel over Memorial Day weekend. We had a fast private boat, and the best divemaster in Cozumel. Of course we only dove the best sites!
*The trip to Roatan was fantastic. While there is not as much sea life in Roatan as some other places in the world, the reefs are truly amazing. We had 8 divers that went, and had a great time. The resort took us out for a two tank dive twice a day, and the shore diving was unlimited!

*Randy Beckman - Master Diver Instructor
Randy Beckman started diving in 1962. He has specialty certifications for Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night, Navigation, Deep Diving, Videography, and Nitrox. Experience: Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures, Extended Range, Dan O2. His favorite dive site “anything wet” or Palancar Cozumel. He is a great trip leader and likes to take groups out to his favorite dive spots. Randy is extremely laid back, has a lot of patience, but is very focused and thorough. His true love of diving enables him to encourage his students to be the very best divers.
*Medhat ``Mike`` Fares - P.A.D.I Instructor
Medhat has 15 years of diving experience. He became a Divemaster in 1993, P.A.D.I Instructor in 1998, EFR Instructor in 2003 and IDC Instructor in 2004. He is also a Dan O2 Instructor and DAN Marine Life Injuries Instructor. He is a board certified Hyperbaric Tech and Diving Medical Tech Advanced. He has worked in Hyperbaric medicine since 1998 and currently runs the hyperbaric chamber at St. David’s Hospital in Austin.
Medhat is a native of Egypt and has 10 years of diving in his favorite dive spot in the Red Sea. He said that visibility was
Incredible “about a mile.”
*William Triplet - Padi Instructor
William Triplet-One of the few who were born and raised in Austin, TX. His love for diving started in 2000 and became a P.A.D.I. Instructor in 2003. He loves to travel and his favorite dive spot is Cozumel. After a day of diving in Cozumel, you can find him relaxing at Coconuts. William’s family also enjoys diving and you can usually see him out by the lake diving at least once a week all year long. William is also has a local successful business and always has a great smile to go along with his warm personality.
