Location description: Here is an example of trip report:
``Driving south on I-5 on Friday the weather looked like it was going to make the forecasters wrong again. With the way the sky looked and the fact that I had to wear sunglasses, I couldn`t imagine the heavens dumping the kind of rain on us that was
Seven of the 10 divers began arriving at Hoodsport-N-Dive in the afternoon on Friday. We were able to make a day dive and a dusk/night dive before heading back to the Bunkhouse to enjoy the pot of split pea soup that Jill made for us. We began the first dive at between 90 and 100 fsw where we saw the beautiful sea whip forest. From there we slowly headed up the slope checking out the nooks and crannies along the way and spotting all the squat lobsters, black-eyed gobies and ronquils that live in the area between the sea whips and Sund Rock wall. Along the wall and rock field amongst the
large plumose anemones we saw perch, lots of copper rockfish, painted greenlings, cabazon and huge lingcod, many who were guarding their egg nests and a plethora of other sea life. Then, nestled in the rocks we would spy the watchful eyes of the adult wolfeels waiting to get their pictures taken. On the way back to the beach we spotted several varieties of nudibranches including one lemon peel nudibranch that assured us we were heading in the right direction! Everyone was thrilled with seeing the wolfeels and the one, quite large, octopus we had seen. That evening 2 more divers arrived in
time for dinner and to enjoy the rehashing of the afternoon dives.
On Saturday morning we awoke to normal Pacific Northwest Sunshine! We began the day off with a nice steady mist. We dropped our cylinders off across the parking lot at the dive store before they even had a chance to turn the ``open`` sign on! While we waited for the additional 5 divers to arrive, Mike cooked us a breakfast of scrambled eggs and croissants, and muffins and coffee. By the time we headed to the dive site the rain was coming down quite heavy and stayed that way until we came out of the water after the third dive that evening when it finally decided to quit! But, we were prepared with tarps overhead and underfoot to keep the wet and the mud to a minimum. Everyone enjoyed their dives on Sund Rock and the north wall seeing pretty much the same sea life as the previous day. Andre and Ellena came for the day in hopes of seeing wolfeels and on their second dive they saw 3 of them making their day trip worth their while. Saturday evening was spent doing what divers do best: eating, watching dive video, and sharing stories of dives gone by!
