Company description Learning to dive is the beginning of a journey into the unknown! You will be entering a new world filled with beautiful and mysterious sights, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colorful creatures and fishes! You will be using a high tech life support system as you swim through crystal clear waters to explore vibrant coral reefs or, perhaps, an underwater shipwreck!
Diving Educators . . .
We have been teaching Chattanoogans to dive for over 25 years. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment, the most current academic materials and proven motor skill development techniques. Every skill we teach meets two important criteria. It represents a real world diving situation and it is designed to work under even the most challenging circumstances.
We Are Concerned About Your Success . . .
Our primary goal is to make certain that you are comfortable with the skills that you have learned and are confident in your personal diving ability. Comfort and confidence are essential for you to truly enjoy the sport of Scuba diving.
The Secret Ingredient . . .
Learning to dive should be FUN! Our staff understands that you can have a good time and still achieve your training objectives. There are no ``drill Instructors at Choo Choo Diving & Aquatic Center.
``Perhaps the single characteristic that most distinguishes our instructors from others in the industry is their ability to create an environment where learning to dive is as much fun as diving itself.``
You can expect to spend around $300 on your educational materials and scuba lessons. That`s not much for a lifetime of fun! Scuba is an adventure sport and you will spend approximately 25 - 30 hours in training. That`s around $10 per training hour. (Most people spend at least $20 an hour on a haircut!) When comparing the cost of scuba training, make certain that you are ``comparing apples with apples`` and you understand all of the costs before you decide where to train.
There are three steps to learning how to dive. You can complete Step One (Homestudy) anytime, in fact, you can start today! We offer two options for Step Two (Classroom and Pool Training). You can complete Step Two in one weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) or five weeknights (Tue-Thu). Step Three (Open Water Certification) requires two days of diving, usually a weekend following the completion of Step Two.
Each student will need their own mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt, and logbook. This equipment is available in our Pro Shop and we have SPECIAL STUDENT PRICING on all of your equipment needs. Please talk with a member of our staff before you purchase any gear or bring equipment to class. NOT ALL EQUIPMENT IS SUITABLE FOR SCUBA DIVING.
There will be an evaluation of your swimming skills, however, it`s nothing like the old days. Early scuba divers wore tanks but did not have any kind of flotation device so they needed incredible endurance. The equipment that you will use can keep you afloat with no effort at all. We do ask, however, that you are able to swim 200 yards (any stroke) or, you can swim 300 yards using mask , fins, and snorkel, and that you can stay afloat in water to deep to stand. If you have any doubts about your abilities, our swim coaches can help you to easily meet these requirements.
Environmental Responsibility . . .
It is indeed a priveledge to dive at some of the most pristine and beautiful dive sites in the world. We are committed to protecting and preserving these areas for future generations. You will learn important low impact diving technique to minimize damage to fragile ecosystems. Responsible divers take only pictures, leave only bubbles and kill only time!
Location description: TRAVEL:
* Great Barrier Reef, Cairns & Sydney
Visit the land ``down-under``, home of the kangaroo, wombat, koala, and the world`s largest coral reef. Go nose to nose with the ``giants`` of Cod Hole. Hunt for the elusive wobbegong shark, swim with Minke whales, and be amazed by the colorful clownfishes and anemones. The Great Barrier Reef is home to 350 species of coral and over 1500 species of fish!
