Company description Welcome to Dive Connections, Charlottesville`s finest dive store serving all of the Central Virginia area. We like to think we are different. Yes, we sell equipment and instruction, but our goal is to get people to GO DIVING! We believe that if divers go diving that more people will be attracted to the sport.
We are dedicated to providing the highest possible quality products and services. Whether it is equipment sales or rentals, equipment service or repair, or training at the recreational, technical or career level, you can count on us to provide the highest possible value.
Give us a chance to prove it to you. We`d love to be your connection to everything underwater! There are many courses. Some of them:
Open Water Scuba Diver
Entry level program designed to develop a competent recreational diver. The program consists of 5 classroom sessions and 5 pool sessions where students develop their knowledge and skills under the careful tutelage of our highly trained staff.
Following this training, certification is awarded after completing 4 open water training dives. These dives are usually done on the weekend at one of the local quarries, although they can be accomplished on one of our local or Caribbean trips. We can also refer the student to another instructor at a dive destination of the student`s choice.
The cost of the program is $349 to include all course materials and certifications fees. Students need to provide mask, snorkel, booties and fins. The cost of the open water dives themselves depend, of course, on where they are done.
Recruit a buddy to take the class with you and SAVE $25 each! Only $324 each !
Tuesday & Thursday Evenings (6pm-9pm) for 3 weeks. Classes begin the first Tuesday of every month. ACAC Members save $25.
Wednesday Evenings (6:30pm-10pm) for 5 weeks. Classes begin every six weeks and are held at Crow Pool. Charlottesville City residents save $25.
Home Study Weekends Registration required two weeks in advance of class start date in order to fulfill home study requirement. Classes begin on Friday (6pm-8pm) evening and continue both Saturday and Sunday (9am-5pm).
The Flex Plan is for individuals with indeterminate schedules. You study material at home at your leisure and then let us know when you want to review with an instructor. Academics can be handled generally at any time with 24 hours notice and pool availability is most any Tuesday or Thursday evening and weekend afternoons. Additional cost is $100. Please drop us a note. Call 434-964-9200
The National geographic Diver Program consists additional academic, pool skill and open water requirements designed to help you develop the skills and understanding to truly become an underwater explorer. The course sharpens you buoyancy, exploration and navigation skills and focuses on exploration and conservation of our aquatic resources. Any of our basic courses can be enhanced to provide you the National Geographic Diver credentials. Additional costs for materials and instruction is $100.

Master Diver Development Program
This program provides the Advanced Open Water educational material and Certification Card, the Encyclopedia of Diving and entry to our ongoing Tuesday night specialty diving lecture series for one low price of $99. This is an excellent resource package for any diver seeking to learn more about the diving environment
We teach specialty courses in the following specialty areas; altitude, computer, night, deep, search & recovery, dry suit, nitrox, multilevel, drift, fish ID, naturalist, peak buoyancy, photography, videography, navigation, equipment specialist, rebreather, wreck, and boat.
Location description: Fishersville Quarry
The quarry is a slate quarry and has a max depth of about 90 feet. There is ample area for open water training above 30 feet and there are several platforms, boats and other submerged artifacts. Visibility averages from 15 to 40 feet depending on the time of year and the number of divers using the quarry.
Access to the quarry is controlled by Kathy`s Scuba, Inc. and Associates. Dive Connections is a participating member. No one is allowed in the quarry without being accompanied by an insured divemaster or instructor associated with the members.
The avid diver will experience nothing less than a good time at Lake Rawlings. While many divers wouldn`t look toward the Mid-Atlantic for a quality diving location, Lake Rawlings provides suprises for those seeking something different in their adventures.
With a maximum depth of 65 feet, warm water, and good visibility (30 to 50 feet), the lake has many wonders to explore.
In fact, Lake Rawlings is so popular among divers that it was rated as one of the TOP 50 DIVE SITES in the U.S. by a national diving publication. We were happy to be recognized as one of the premiere diving location in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
With this type of recognition, no diver should find a reason to not visit, ``the clearest lake from Maine and Florida!``
Confined Water Platform
Our large confined water platform makes it easier to practice basic skills away from the higher traffic entrance to the lake.
It`s the safety of a pool, combined with the fun of the lake!
Winter Warming Station (November to April)
As a boost for winter diving at Lake Rawlings, we have added a Warming Station on the bluff nearest the water so that divers can change from street clothes to dry suit (or wet suit), and vice-versa after the dive. The temperature inside the station is always 25 degrees F warmer on a sunny day without a heat source; but for those really cold days we`ve also added a 30W heater inside (no chance of being cold here). So, bring your dry suit (or whatever you wear for winter diving), and use it this winter!
Underwater Attractions
At Lake Rawlings, we have prepared various attractions to peak the interest of divers as they explore our underwater world. Here are just a few of the things you will find.
