PADI Open Water Diver Program
This is the class that will allow you to take the vacations of your dreams. Instead of watching ``National Geographic`` from your armchair, you will be seeing, feeling, and living those amazing aquatic wonders!
With the knowledge and skills you will develop in this class, in just a matter of a few weeks, you will be discovering the beautiful underwater world.
In DIVE MAGIC`s Open Water Course, you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving. We use the ``PADI Modular System.``
This system is designed for ease of learning, with the primary emphasis on fun! With a minimum age limit of ten and college credits available, this really is the sport for the whole family! The classes are kept small, so you will have more one-on-one time and greater personalized attention.
At some point in the course, your PADI Instructor will ask you to demonstrate the ability to swim 200 metres/yards without swim aids or 300 metres/yards with mask, fins and snorkel and complete a bit of paperwork, to get you on your way. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program In just three easy steps, you can become a certified scuba diver!
In four fun filled evenings, under the gentle guidance of the Dive Magic Instructors, you will learn and practice the exciting new skills that will enable you to become a PADI certified diver.
Here, we`ll travel to one of our many local dive sites where you will do four Open Water Dives, During each dive, after a brief skill review, you will be able to experience the wonders of the underwater world!

Location description: Blue Lake
Site Location: The dive site is located on state and private land in Tuella County, Utah approximately 17 miles south of Wendover, Utah near the Nevada border.
The elevation of the city is 4,500 ft.
The area is part of the Bonneville Salt Flats in the Great Basin.
Local Accommodations: There are several hotels and casinos in the towns of Wendover, UT and W. Wendover, NV. For hotel listings and other recreation opportunities in the area, we suggest calling the Wendover Chamber of Commerce.
Dive Site Description: Blue Lake is a small (9.7 acre) lake with hydro-geothermal influence. It is a popular dive site used for recreational and instructional diving. Weekends may be busy, and visibility may be reduced during the weekend crowds. Visibility will range from 0-12 ft. Lake temperatures are consistently 65-70F, however air temperatures vary seasonally. The maximum depth is 58 ft, and the altitude of the lake is 4,270 ft. Divers should adjust actual depths for altitude diving (see PADI, Adventures in Diving). The lake bottom consists of fine sediments (such as silt), and is easily disturbed.
The lake is 675 ft from the parking lot. There is a rudimentary trail and boardwalk for divers, however the footing is uneven, slick, and icy. Once at the lakeshore, the entry/exit can be made at the dock or ladders. The shoreline is steep with a 4 ft drop off. We recommend a back roll entry from the dock or the lakeshore. The access areas are carpeted to reduce sediment and bank erosion, and divers should limit activities to these designated areas to reduce environmental impact.
Hazards: The walkway is long, uneven, and slick. Carrying gear to the lake can be strenuous, and divers should plan accordingly. Avoid overexertion during the walk before and after diving, particularly on hot days. Fishermen frequent the site, so divers should be cautious of entanglement in fishing line and tackle.
Common Fauna: Small mouth bass, blue gill sunfish, crappie, and several species of aquatic snails inhabit the lake. Waterfowl commonly seen near the lake include: mallards, coots, and northern shovelers.
Information for Medical Emergencies: Emergency and standard health care are provided by the Wendover Community Health Center open 8 hours/day, 7 days/week. The Wendover Ambulance Co. and Life Flight provide Emergency Medical Services and transportation. Salt Lake City, 120 miles east, is the nearest location with full medical services including a hyperbaric chamber. Visitors may move the points of interest in the lake. Therefore, our map may become out-dated within several months.
