Diving as it should be!
Dive Groups are always welcome at Dive Provo. If you are organizing a trip to Turks and Caicos we are happy to help you with accommodation and airfare arrangements, marketing materials and any other special activities you have planned.
Dive Provo partners with a number of properties to offer you a choice in accommodations ranging from comfortable to luxurious.
Providenciales (otherwise known as Provo) is 37.5 square miles and is the most developed of the Turks and Caicos Islands, with a variety of resorts, excellent restaurants, and modern amenities. The ambience of the island remains laid back and friendly and the main focus of any vacation here is enjoying the spectacular waters and beaches.
Dive Provo is a PADI Five Star Facility offering comprehensive training programs for all levels of certification. In addition, Dive Provo works closely with other certification agencies including SSI, NAUI, and NASDS to allow students from other agencies to complete their Open Water Referral Dives at Dive Provo.
A sampling of the courses available at Dive Provo:
*Discover Scuba Diving - Take that first unforgettable breath. After a classroom and pool session, join your Dive Provo Instructor on a guided tour on one of Provo`s shallow reefs. $149
*Open Water Certification Course - This PADI course incorporates the use of home study videos and texts, or perhaps the PADI Open Water CD-ROM suits you better. Studying prior to your arrival on island reduces on-island classroom time allowing you time to enjoy other activities or spend time with your family. Also ideal for the business person who can only ``escape`` work for a short period of time. $525
*Open Water Referral Dives - Complete all academics and pool work at home and finish your open water dives in the warm clear waters of Provo. Your training takes place out on the regular 2 tank trips, so certified partners can join you out on the boat. Course fee includes equipment, instruction, and dives. $350.00
*Advanced Open Water Course
A great vacation course as this class requires no classroom time, just some easy reading and thorough on-boat and in-water briefings with your instructor. The course is designed to increase your knowledge of Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation, plus four specialty dives. $450
*Nitrox Certification - Learn about and experience the benefits of diving with Nitrox. Self study followed by an afternoon lecture and 2 Nitrox dives allows you to join the ranks of technical divers giving you the freedom to choose to dive with Nitrox on any future dives. For divers taking our Nitrox certification class Nitrox fills are free for the rest of your stay. $250
*Technical Diving - Take advantage of on-island expertise. Dive Provo partners with O2 Technical Diving to bring you Advanced Nitrox, Trimix and Re-breather Courses. The shop staff will help make arrangements to try any of these more advanced classes.
...and many more.
Location description:
Dive Provo has the most comprehensive dive schedule on island. We dive 5 areas, with each area having a number of interesting and beautiful sites. Where we dive on any given day is dependant upon where divers have already been and where they want to go. We try to rotate everyone around the various areas as each is unique and beautiful in it`s own way.
*Providenciales Turks Caicos Marine Life
A large area of the coast of Provo comprises the Princess Alexandra National Park within which there is no commercial or sport fishing allowed. As a result the diver benefits from a profusion of marine life, much of which remains undisturbed in its reef habitat by visiting divers. Even outside the boundaries of the Princess Alexandra National Park the dive operators all happily support a policy of reef preservation and conservation.
*PINE CAY AREA:
Pine Cay is a small island located 40-50 minutes by boat, northeast of Turtle Cove marina. The dive sites off the Cay are submerged seamounts that rise to within 50` of the surface and are known for consistently good visibility -- even at times when the visibility is down at other north side sites.
*GRACE BAY AREA:
Grace Bay is a short 15-20 minute boat trip from Turtle Cove and is protected by a 14 mile barrier reef. Prolific marine life such as groupers, barracudas, turtles, sharks and the occasional manta ray inhabit this area.
*NORTH WEST POINT AREA:
The vertical walls of Northwest Point begin at 35 feet and are famous for a variety of formations including gold and purple tube sponges. Dramatic dive sites are the rule here where large fish and elephant ear sponges are frequently encountered.
*WEST CAICOS AND BEYOND:
The dive begins in 50fsw with a large colony of garden eels in the sand flat. The site is also popular because of the many stingrays that play in the sand. This is one of the deeper dives out at West Caicos with coral arches and swim throughs around 80-100fsw. Lot`s of large marine life and frequent shark sightings.
*Whiteface -- The name of this dive site has nothing to do with the underwater topography, but comes from the steep white cliffs along the shoreline. Along the top of the wall is particularly profuse reef with some impressive stands of pillar coral. The fish population includes barracuda, parrot fish French angelfish and Nassau grouper. Just north of the mooring is a crack in the wall with a large anchor embedded at 70 feet. The wall is well undercut to a depth of about 100fsw.
*Half Mile Reef -- As the name suggests, this reef is roughly half a mile long and lies to the east of French Cay. A popular section of the reef is located in a large bowl on the wall which tends to eliminate the effects of currents encountered elsewhere on the reef. Large schools of barracuda and mahogany snappers are always present and two large (7-8 feet across) elephant ear sponges are found twenty feet apart at the 85fsw contour.
